Minnesota voters will be asked to consider a constitutional amendment that would increase the amount distributed to public schools from the state’s existing Permanent School Fund. The fund generates revenue from approximately 2.5 million acres of state-owned school trust lands through timber sales, mining, land leases and investment earnings.
The amendment would not raise property taxes or state income taxes. It would change the distribution formula so more of the fund’s existing resources could be distributed to schools each year while preserving the fund for future generations.
If approved, Fergus Falls Public Schools is projected to receive approximately $99,400.00 in additional annual funding beginning July 1, 2027.
