It was a busy day at the build site yesterday. Stenerson Lumber delivered lumber in preparation for the Blitz Build beginning on June 15. Trevor and crew got the center wall poured with cement by early in the morning, making it look easy!

Dean Monke, volunteer leader of the PioneerCare childcare village project, has been a regular at the build site since we broke ground. Dean is thrilled to see the project come to life, with the help of many of his own hours of volunteer service!

From June 15 – July 3, Fergus Falls Area Habitat for Humanity will be hard at work on PioneerCare's Channing Child Care Center, building Monday through Friday each week.

We appreciate the hard work of the team that came from Good Shepherd Lutheran Brethren Church yesterday.

The team helped install the ICF (Insulated Concrete Form) center wall of the daycare building. ICFs are interlocking foam blocks that are filled with concrete, creating walls that are strong, energy-efficient and built to last.

We want to recognize longtime Habitat supporter and volunteer Dick Kennedy (pictured on right with Board Chair, Dale Heglund on left).

“Dick was an incredible leader and pastor who inspired people to roll up their sleeves and jump in to help,” said Stan Carignan, Executive Director of Fergus Falls Area Habitat for Humanity. “He has an easygoing leadership style that made helping others fun and enjoyable.”

Dick served as Construction Manager for Habitat when Stan first volunteered in 2015, and his passion for serving others continues to inspire those around him. Dick even welcomed others to serve alongside him at Habitat builds in Pensacola, Florida. Dick's wife, Mary, has gotten involved with Habitat by sewing quilts for new homeowners in the Pensacola area.

Thank you, Dick, for the encouragement, leadership, and heart you’ve shared with Habitat and our community over the years!
