Just a couple weeks ago, the House passed H.R. 2853, ๐˜ต๐˜ฉ๐˜ฆ ๐˜Š๐˜ฐ๐˜ฎ๐˜ฃ๐˜ข๐˜ต๐˜ช๐˜ฏ๐˜จ ๐˜–๐˜ณ๐˜จ๐˜ข๐˜ฏ๐˜ช๐˜ป๐˜ฆ๐˜ฅ ๐˜™๐˜ฆ๐˜ต๐˜ข๐˜ช๐˜ญ ๐˜Š๐˜ณ๐˜ช๐˜ฎ๐˜ฆ ๐˜ˆ๐˜ค๐˜ต, to establish a coordinated federal response to combat cargo theft, smash-and-grab robberies, and other organized retail crimes.

The hour was action-packed, covering everything from the Iran conflict and the anti-weaponization fund to requests for individual assistance and even state and local issues. I enjoyed spending time with the team at Nemours in Jacksonville last week to see firsthand how they are expanding care and support for children and families. During my visit, I learned about their petโ€‘therapy program, where Charlie easily stole the show and their growing telehealth services. I also learned about the PATH program, which helps families navigate complex medical needs with coordinated support and resources. The amazing staff provides dedicated and knowledgeable care for children undergoing treatment for cancer and blood disorders while guiding the families through some of their toughest moments.

Nemours, in collaboration with Wolfson Children's Hospital, ensures that children receive the highest level of treatment, hope, and healing when they need it most. Their dedication is extraordinary, and they deserve our full support as they continue providing exceptional care to families across our region.

Northeast Florida sh*****ng isnโ€™t just an industryโ€”itโ€™s a way of life. Yet for too long, U.S. tax dollars have helped bankroll foreign shrimp operations, undercutting our local fleets and pushing family businesses to the brink.

The House is putting a stop to this with the passage of the Save Our Shrimpers Act. This bill will protect American jobs, strengthen local seafood producers, and support the coastal communities that rely on this heritage.

Yesterday afternoon, Abby and I had the pleasure of touring Rethreaded in historic Springfield.

Rethreaded is on the forefront of combatting the human trafficking epidemic and a worldwide partner for multiple organizations that are also in the fight against human trafficking. Rethreaded provides a three to five year Survivor Development Program that works with survivors of human trafficking as they restore their lives through employment, career development, mental health counseling, and trauma informed care management.

Kristin Keen founded Rethreaded in 2011 and officially launched in 2012. Since then, they have employed over 105 survivors of human trafficking and provided over 200k hours of work.

They now also have a full retail store and continue to make incredible impacts on the lives of human trafficking victims not just locally but globally as well.

I recently met with Carrie Davis, CEO of Wealth Watchers, to discuss the important work of the NeighborWorks Florida Collaborative in supporting communities across the region. Through community development, affordable housing solutions, and financial coaching, NeighborWorks is helping more Northeast Floridians prepare for and achieve sustainable homeownership.

These conversations are shaping my work in Washington, where I am focused on ensuring individuals and families have the tools and support they need to build long-term financial stability through homeownership and stronger economic opportunity.
