Check out the new member of the FBPD!

The FBPD has a new member; Let us introduce you to Officer Hanna. She is our new Community Engagement Ambassador. Hanna was donated to us by a rescue down in South Florida. Hanna is assigned to our Community Engagement Officer, Tina Smith. Hanna and Tina will make visits to our local schools, Hospital and Assisted Living Facilities to say hi and hopefully make everyone smile. Hanna will also be used to assist and console victims of crimes along with providing some much needed “therapy” to our employees. Hanna is another way for us to engage with our wonderful community.

We sat down with Hanna and asked her some questions:

Who is your hero and why: My hero and best friend is Officer Tina Smith. I call her “Mom” and she takes really good care of me. We go for walks, we play fetch, she takes me to visit all my friends in the city; she is just the best Dog Mom ever!

What is your favorite food: Anything other than dry dog kibble, even though that is all that I eat. I do like the dog treats that the Chief gives me. But…he makes me sit and mind my manners first.

If you could meet anyone, who would it be: I would love to meet Chase from Paw Patrol, he is so cool.

If you could do anything else other than Law Enforcement, what would it be: I would be a Fire Dog because just like Police Dogs, they help people.

The Fernandina Beach Police Department will hold its 20th annual Shop with Cops on December 13. More than 150 under served local school children will benefit.

Donations are collected all year long and every penny translates directly to Christmas toys and much needed clothing. Program participants are selected by school guidance counselors, who make sure that only the truly needy are given the opportunity to participate in this unique program
