Ferndale Housing Commission
The Ferndale Housing Commission administers 125 units of housing in two, separate high rise apartment buildings, 43 family houses scattered throughout the City through Public Housing, and rental assistance for families through the Section 8 Rental Assistance Program. It is the priority of the Commission to continually develop and provide decent, safe, and sanitary housing for the low income, elderly and disabled residents of the community.
The Ferndale Housing Commission complies fully with all federal, state, and local nondiscrimination laws, and with all rules and regulations governing fair housing and equal opportunity in housing and employment. Federal law prohibits discrimination in housing and employment on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, familial status, disability, marital status, gender identity, or sexual orientation. The State of Michigan and City of Ferndale prohibit discrimination on the basis of height and weight, gender, or physical or mental disability.
