November 22nd • 9AM – 2PM

🚨 Attention pet parents, pet aunts, pet uncles, and that one neighbor who “doesn’t own a cat” but somehow feeds half the neighborhood… this is YOUR moment. 😆

We’re hosting a Microchip Clinic, and your furry sidekick deserves to be on the VIP (Very Identifiable Pet) list!

For just $15 per microchip OR a 10lb bag of unopened, unexpired pet food, you can help ensure your pet always finds their way home, even if they believe they’re starring in “Mission: Impossible, Backyard Escape.” 🐶🐱💨

✨ Why Microchip?
Because collars slip, tags vanish, and pets have Olympic-level disappearing skills.

✨ Why Now?
This is our LAST microchip clinic of the year!

✨ Future Clinics?
Dates for next year’s microchip clinics are still in review, so now is definitely the time to jump on it.

📍 Location: 595 Silverlace Blvd (City Hall)
🚪 Enter through the double doors on the Municipal Court side

182 days of wagging his tail at strangers who walk past his kennel.
182 days of hoping today might finally be the day someone sees him.

Meet Kino, a stunning Husky mix with a heart as soft as his fur. He’s our gentle giant, our big cuddly teddy bear, and somehow… still waiting for his happily ever after.

Kino is the perfect blend of affectionate and independent, he loves to lean in for hugs, but also carries himself with that quiet Husky dignity that makes him feel almost noble. He’s smart, athletic, and brave, yet at his core he’s just a sweet, gentle soul who wants to love and be loved in return.

He’s not loud. He’s not demanding. He’s the kind of dog who looks at you with those calm, knowing eyes that seem to say, “I’ll wait for you.”

We might be a little late saying it, but our gratitude is HUGE! 💛 Thank you to everyone who stopped by our October microchipping clinic, because of you, more pets in our community are safe, protected, and one step closer to finding their way home if they ever get lost.

We had such a great turnout (and loved meeting all your furry friends)! 🐕🐈 You make events like this paws-itively awesome.

💚 WAGS WEDNESDAY 💚

Meet Oswald, the boy with the biggest smile and the warmest heart. 🐾

He’s been at the Lyon County Shelter for 154 days, and even though he’s been posted and shared before… no one has taken him home yet.

But Oswald hasn’t stopped believing. Every day, he greets the world with a wagging tail, a goofy grin, and so much love to give. He’s playful, affectionate, and LOVES running and romping with other friendly dogs.

Oswald doesn’t understand why he keeps getting passed by, he just knows he’s ready for someone to love forever. 💚

Maybe he’s been waiting this long because he’s meant to be yours.

Tomorrow is going to be a very windy day! Please ensure that your pets are safe indoors or in a secure kennel. Every wind storm we see dogs escaping from yards due to fences being blown down. Please help to keep pets safe by checking fences and ensuring that your animals are outfitted with a properly fitting collar complete with ID tag or a microchip to help them get back home. Come visit us on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at City Hall in Fernley from 9 am to 2 pm for another low cost microchip clinic. This will be the last clinic for 2025 and dates for 2026 are pending.
Microchips are available for $15.00 each (cash only) or a donation of an unopened 10 pound bag of pet food. Pet food donations are greatly appreciated and go to help the pet pantry, helping owners to feed their animals in times of difficulty. All pet food donations remain local.

If you are experiencing financial difficulties and need pet food assistance, please contact us as help is available.

If you don't want to wait until the 22nd, please give us a call at 775-784-9803 to schedule a weekday appointment.

Our Pet Food Pantry is here to support pets and their families in our community, but we need your help! We are currently in need of:

- Cat wet food & kibble 🐱

- Dog wet food & kibble 🐶

- Small dog food & puppy food 🐕

- Cat litter 🐾

Every donation helps keep pets healthy and happy and goes directly back into our community to support animals and their families in need.

🔥Meet HERO 🔥

They say a dog’s love is unconditional… and Hero is living proof.

When he was found for the second time, Hero was wandering alone, no collar, no clue where to go, and no one calling his name. He’d been waiting, faithfully, for someone who never came back. Days turned into nights, and still, he waited. Through it all, his tail never stopped wagging. Because deep down, Hero believed that someone would come, someone who would finally see him, love him, and never let him go.

Now safe at the shelter, Hero greets everyone with gentle eyes and a slow, hopeful wag, like he’s saying, “Maybe it’s you. Maybe you’re the one I’ve been waiting for.”

🐶 ABOUT HERO:

Breed: Labrador Retriever Mix

Age: Just old enough to understand loyalty, but young enough to still dream big

Personality: Sweet, soft-hearted, and endlessly forgiving

Special Skill: Finding hope where others might give up AND good with other dogs
