πŸš— Labor Day Weekend Starts with Safe Travels! πŸš—

Whether you're heading to the mountains, the lake, a campground, or just visiting family, a little preparation goes a long way.

Before you hit the road:
βœ… Buckle upβ€”every seat, every trip.
βœ… Put the phone away and focus on driving.
βœ… Check your tires, lights, and fluid levels.
βœ… Allow extra travel time and be patient with holiday traffic.
βœ… Never drive impaired or ride with someone who is.

If you're traveling through our area, remember that emergency vehicles may be responding to calls. Please slow down and move over when it's safe to do so.

Have a fun, relaxing, and safe Labor Day weekend from all of us at the Ferron Volunteer Fire Department! πŸš’β€οΈ

β€œI'D LOVE TO HELP, BUT I DON'T HAVE TIME.”

We hear this a lot.

And honestly? We understand.

Our firefighters have jobs. Families. Kids. Bills. Responsibilities.

Some work in the mines and can't leave work during their shifts. Others have full-time jobs and busy lives.

Our firefighters aren't sitting around the station waiting for a call.

They're your neighbors.

They're parents. Spouses. Employees. Business owners.

And when the pager goes off, they leave what they're doing and respond.

But here's the problem…

There are only 8 of them.

When several firefighters are working, unavailable, or deployed on wildland assignments, our available response team gets very small very quickly.

That's why we need more volunteers.

Maybe you can't answer every call.

Maybe you work a job that limits when you're available.

Maybe you can give more time during certain parts of the year.

Every additional trained firefighter makes a difference.

You don't have to be available 24/7 to make a difference.

You just have to be willing to help when you can.

If you've ever thought about volunteering with Ferron Fire, come talk to us.

You might be exactly who we've been looking for. πŸš’β€οΈ

πŸ”₯πŸ” Keep the Fun Goingβ€”Not the Fire! πŸ”πŸ”₯

Labor Day weekend is coming up and is one of the busiest weekends for campfires and backyard BBQs. Help prevent accidental fires by following these simple tips:

πŸ”₯ Keep grills at least 10 feet away from homes, decks, and dry grass.
πŸ”₯ Never leave a grill or campfire unattended.
πŸ”₯ Keep a bucket of water or a fire extinguisher nearby.
πŸ”₯ Completely drown campfires with water, stir the ashes, and feel for heat before leaving.
πŸ”₯ Check current fire restrictions before lighting a campfire.

One small spark can become a large wildfire in just minutes. Let's all do our part to protect our beautiful public lands and our community.

Have fun, grill safely, and leave your campsite better than you found it! πŸ•οΈπŸš’

πŸŒŠβ˜€οΈ Make this Weekend a Safe One! β˜€οΈπŸŒŠ

Many families will spend the weekend enjoying lakes, rivers, and outdoor adventures. Keep safety at the top of your packing list!

🦺 Wear a properly fitted life jacket whenever you're on the water.
πŸ’§ Stay hydrated throughout the day.
β˜€οΈ Protect yourself from the sun with sunscreen, a hat, and shade breaks.
πŸ₯Ύ Tell someone where you're going if you're hiking or exploring.
πŸ“± Carry a fully charged phoneβ€”but remember, cell service may be limited in remote areas.
πŸš‘ Call 911 immediately if you witness an emergency.

The best weekend memories are the ones where everyone gets home safely.

Have a wonderful weekend from your friends at the Ferron Volunteer Fire Department! πŸš’β€οΈ

πŸΎπŸš’ Happy National Dog Day! πŸš’πŸΎ

Today we're celebrating our four-legged friends who bring so much joy to our homes and our community!

Whether they're loyal family companions, hardworking ranch dogs, hiking buddies, or the first to greet us after a long call, dogs truly make life better.

🐢 A few dog safety reminders:
❀️ Make sure your pets always have fresh water, especially during hot weather.
🏷️ Keep ID tags and microchip information up to date.
πŸšͺ Include your pets in your family's emergency evacuation plan.
πŸ”₯ Place a "Pets Inside" window sticker near your front door to help first responders know animals may be inside during an emergency.
πŸ• Keep dogs leashed or safely contained if emergency crews are working in your neighborhood.

We'd love to meet your furry family members! πŸ“Έ Drop a photo of your dog in the comments and tell us their name. Bonus points if they're wearing a bandana, life jacket, or even a firefighter costume! β€οΈπŸš’

WHAT IF THE CALL CAME TONIGHT? 🚨

A house fire.
A serious accident.
A medical emergency.
A brush fire threatening a home.

You call 911.

But while you're waiting for help, have you ever wondered how many firefighters are actually available to respond?

Ferron Volunteer Fire Department currently has just 8 firefighters.

Some work in the mines and can't leave their jobs when an emergency call comes in. Others work outside the area or have family and work obligations.

And during wildland season, some of our firefighters may be deployed for days or even weeks helping protect other communities.

When 3 are deployed, that leaves just 5 firefighters in town β€” and not all 5 may be available when the pager goes off.

That's why we're asking our community:

WHO WILL BE THE NEXT PERSON TO ANSWER THE CALL?

Maybe it's you.

You don't need previous firefighting experience. Training is provided. What we need most is someone who is dependable, willing to learn, and willing to serve.

You may never know whose life you will change.

But someday, your neighbor may be very glad you decided to join.

πŸš’ Ferron needs firefighters. Ferron needs YOU.

Send us a message or talk to one of our firefighters to learn more.
