June 9, 2026. There have been comments/questions on WHY the Tornado Siren was blown in Fessenden. The decision was made in coordination with the Emergency Management office and the Fessenden Fire Department Chief. We made the decision for the safety of our community and because there are many people staying in our campground. This allows people to be prepared because storms can change rapidly. Thankfully, we only lost a few tree branches!

Scattered to numerous severe storms are possible late this afternoon through this evening across most of western and central North Dakota. The main hazards will be 2 inch diameter hail, damaging winds up to 70 mph, and a possible tornado. Be sure to have multiple ways to receive warnings.

Be aware of changing weather conditions tomorrow: June 2, 2026!!

There remains a level 1 to 2 of 5 risk for severe thunderstorms across much of western and central North Dakota on Tuesday. The primary hazards expected with any severe storm would be large hail up to the size of golf balls, damaging wind gusts up to 70 MPH, and possibly an isolated tornado. Locally heavy rainfall is also possible.
