Another busy, beautiful week in the Village!
-DPW removed a couple of "Let it Snow Banners" that were overlooked. We DO NOT want to tempt nature now that summer weather has arrived. Next installation of seasonal lamp post banners will be rotated 360 degrees to not overhang onto the parking spaces. This can cause issue for high profile vehicles.
-DPW installed the DDA, 2-hr dock.
-DPW adjusted the boat launch dock to accommodate dropping lake levels.
-DPW completed lots of striping including: Village Municipal Building, DNR, Boat Launch and downtown parallel parking areas.
-DPW is watering flowers at least 3 times weekly. This is a huge budgetary savings!
-DPW collaborated with Grand Traverse County to provide hot patch on Village Roads; Council considered purchase of our own hot patch equipment as it is a better option.
-New trash can lids have been approved, purchased, and installed in all parks.
-Beach sand and gravel was approved, purchased, and will be delivered this upcoming week.
-Loader repairs were approved, scheduled and began.
-Concrete base for road banner pole was approved, scheduled, and completed.
-Reports of bulb replacements needed on lamp posts from elector and forwarded to DPW for replacement.
-There was some potential vandalism in Memorial Park to one trash can.
-Buoys are being assessed to be sure we have all necessary hardware and will be installed this week.
-Communicated with Deputy Whetstone regarding potential new Community Policing Officer
-Worked on credit card policy and ORV/Dirt Bike ordinance for Council review.
-Received communication from EGLE to register leaf dump. Council plans to review ongoing concerns and make potential changes to access.
-Paid required amount to Fife Lake Township to complete FOIA regarding petition to disincorporate Village of Fife Lake. They shared an estimated timeline to receive of 6/10/26.
-Received communication regarding a travel trailer and forwarded to Zoning Administrator to ensure compliance.
-Facilitated rescheduled May Village Council meeting.
-Approved and contracted for road improvements to Anthony St and Pierce St.
I thought our meeting was very productive and I greatly appreciate the collaboration of ALL the council members. While I may carry the title of President, I cannot do it alone and want to thank the council members, DPW staff, and Clerk in supporting the good work of the Village.
