Multiple rounds of thunderstorms are likely across parts of northern Michigan today, especially late this morning into this evening. The main risk with any strong storms will be damaging wind gusts. Large hail and localized heavy rainfall will also be possible. Be sure to have multiple ways of receiving weather information and warnings, especially if you have outdoor plans today!

We’ve bumped up to Severe Weather WARNING until 2 am! ⚠️

A swath of damaging winds remains possible overnight across northern and central Lower Peninsula. 70 mph winds, along with brief instances of spin-up tornadoes and 1" hailstones remain all possible in the pink box. In the cream box, damaging winds of 60 mph are still possible, but the odds of that happening are currently 15% or less. Frequent cloud to ground lightning, and minor flooding are possible statewide.

Time of post, 10:03 pm EDT 7/20/26. Make sure to have ways to get warning while you sleep besides outdoor warning sirens.

for Antrim, Benzie, Charlevoix, Cheboygan, Clare, Crawford, Emmet, Grand Traverse, Kalkaska, Lake, Leelanau, Mackinac, Manistee, Mason, Missaukee, Montmorency, Osceola, Otsego, Presque Isle and Wexford County in MI until 2:00am.

* Keep your phone charged and weather alerts turned on while you sleep.
* If a warning is issued overnight, move to your safe place immediately.
* Secure loose outdoor items and be prepared for strong winds and hail.
