PACT: Providing Accessible Clothing to Teens

The PACT project is part of a community and resident-led leadership program though Cabrillo Economic Development (CEDC) Community Building division in partnership with CEDC youth leadership group living at CEDC ‘s Fillmore Central Station Apartments. The idea of creating PACT came after Fillmore youth living at CEDC's Fillmore Central Station Apartments learned that one of their friends was person

ally bullied at school for wearing “unfashionable” clothing. After learning of the incident, the team decided to take action. CEDC Community Building staff traveled with the youth to Sacramento in October 2013 to gather with over 100 community leaders from across the country at the NeighborWorks America Community Leadership Institute (CLI). The purpose: to strengthen the voice and skills of community leaders in low-income communities through a community project. After attending the CLI, PACT was created by the youth to provide accessible resources to Ventura County youth i through gently used or new clothing, shoes, and educational necessities. You can donate gently used, new clothing for ages K-12 to the PACT youth closet by dropping them off at:
