Comprehensive fi****ms proficiency goes beyond marksmanship; it builds the confidence an officer needs to manage high-stress encounters. This training reinforces the gravity of carrying a weapon, and emphasizes split-second decision making in challenging situations. MCSO just completed fi****ms training in low light (sometimes no light). Sirens wailed as red & blue lights flashed to simulate a nighttime emergency scenario.

🚨 WEATHER ALERT: Flash Flood & Severe Thunderstorm Warnings

Flash Flood and Severe Thunderstorm warnings are in effect for our county today. Please take the following safety precautions immediately:

⚠️ Current Road Hazards:

US-50 South of Scipio: Active flooding reported. Please avoid this area and use alternate routes.

⚠️ Burn Scar Safety:

Wide Mouth 2 Burn Scar: Avoid all drainage areas, low-lying channels, and runoff zones. Flash floods and debris flows can occur rapidly without warning.

Never drive through flooded roadways—turn around, don't drown! Stay indoors, stay safe, and monitor local news for updates or visit the National Weather Service Website:

The tiny town of Lynndyl was turned upside down after severe storms ripped through the area Saturday evening. Trees were dug up, windows were blown out, and roof parts were on the ground.

SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING

The National Weather Service in Salt Lake City has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for...
Southeastern Millard County in central Utah...
Northwestern Sevier County in central Utah....

* Until 230 PM MDT.

* At 200 PM MDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 9 miles northwest of Kanosh, or 14 miles southwest of Fillmore, moving northeast at 30 mph.

* At 201 PM MDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 13 miles west of Cove Fort, or 21 miles northeast of Milford, moving east at 15 mph

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

* Locations impacted include...
Fillmore, Meadow, Hatton, Flowell, and Greenwood.

This includes the following highways...
Interstate 15 between mile markers 152 and 173.
US Route 50 between mile markers 112 and 114.

The Landfill will be open at 1:00pm today (08/30/26) for debris from the storm the blew through Lynndyl and Leamington yesterday.
