REMINDER: Yard Signs Are NOT Permitted in the Public Right-of-Way

Where is the right-of-way?
-On roads with sidewalks, it is typically the area between the street and the sidewalk.
-On roads without sidewalks, it generally extends approximately 16' feet from the edge of the pavement.

Where can signs be placed?
Signs should be placed behind the sidewalk, behind telephone poles, or in farm fields. Signs may also be placed on private property with the property owner's permission and in compliance with applicable municipal or township ordinances.

What happens to signs in the right-of-way?
They will be removed by the City of Findlay and stored at 224 W. Crawford St. for 30 days.

City of Findlay Codified Ordinances: 1161.12.3 (B) Unless with Council approval, no sign shall be placed within the public right-of-way of any public street. Within the C-3 district, temporary signs are permitted in the right-of-way. Permanent signs within the C-3 district must be approved by City Council.

The City of Findlay will be closing Blanchard Avenue from Blanchard Street to CR 180 to through traffic on Wednesday, October 21st from 7:30 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. for waterline installation.

Please join us to celebrate a new community asset!

Please join us for a Ribbon Cutting and Community Tree Planting on Monday, October 19 from 5:30-6:30pm at the Urban Prairie Site (East Main Cross St.).

Remarks will be shared by project partners and will be followed by an opportunity for community members to participate in planting native trees at the Urban Prairie site. Thank you to the Findlay Shade Tree Commission for identifying the appropriate species!

A few updates on the prairie project:

-Wild Toledo continues to prepare the site for seeding during the coldest period of winter, when the ground is frozen. Many native prairie wildflower and grass seeds need a period of cold, wet conditions before they can sprout. This process, call stratification, softens the seed coat and signals that winter has passed. This copies the natural cycle!

-Benches, signage, and additional features of the urban prairie will be added over the coming months.

-Community members will be invited to participate in a "Plant Plugging" event in May 2027. Thousands of plant plugs will be placed in the ground to give the prairie a more aesthetic appeal as it continues to establish over the next few years.

Fall bulk trash week will take place October 24-31!

Please note that tires will ONLY be accepted from 2-6pm on Thursday, October 29. Tires must be off the rim. Proof of residency within Findlay city limits and/or ID will be required before disposal. No commercial tires will be accepted.

Mayor Christina Muryn has issued a proclamation recognizing and congratulating Team Ohio of Special Olympics on becoming National Champions and winning the gold medal while completing an undefeated championship run.

The City of Findlay proudly celebrates the six Findlay athletes, Head Coach, Assistant Coach, fellow athletes and coaches from across Ohio, and all those whose dedication and support made this historic achievement possible.

Do you have a failing septic system? Financial assistance may be available.

Hancock Regional Planning Commission is currently accepting applications for the WPCLF Septic System Replacement Program. Income-eligible homeowners with a failing septic system or who need to connect to sanitary sewer may qualify for assistance covering 50%, 80%, or 100% of eligible project costs.

Funding is limited and available on a first-come, first served basis.
