Some stories come full circle 💫

🩵 In our People for Cancer Patient Services series, we’re sharing Tamera Rooney's story!

For Tamera, Cancer Patient Services became part of her family’s story when her young daughter was diagnosed with cancer. What began as receiving support from CPS during an unexpected and challenging journey led to years of involvement with the organization, from working alongside CPS to advocating for local cancer patients and their families.

Today, Tamera continues to support the mission because she understands firsthand the importance of having someone walk beside you during one of life’s most difficult seasons.

Thank you, Tamera, for your advocacy, partnership, and commitment to ensuring local families facing cancer know they are not alone!

💜 The People for Cancer Patient Services series: Meet Rachel Haselman!

Rachel is a 2-year breast cancer survivor whose journey began when she was just 10 months postpartum and diagnosed with Stage 2 breast cancer.

Through 14 rounds of chemotherapy and 33 rounds of radiation, Cancer Patient Services was honored to walk alongside Rachel with physical, emotional, and financial support during one of the most difficult seasons of her life.

As a young mother navigating treatment while supporting her 6-year-old daughter, Rachel reminds us that cancer impacts entire families, not just one person.

Today, Rachel also advocates in Columbus for cancer support and awareness, helping others understand just how important organizations like Cancer Patient Services are for local families facing cancer.

We are so grateful to share Rachel’s story and proud to continue being a shoulder to lean on for Hancock County patients and families. 💚

🩵 The People for Cancer Patient Services

Next in our series: Kelley McClurkin, CEO of United Way of Hancock County.

Kelley shared something so important: cancer doesn’t just affect one person. It impacts spouses, children, parents, friends, coworkers, and caregivers—the entire circle of people who love and support someone through their journey.

That’s why Cancer Patient Services provides wrap-around support not only for patients, but for the people walking beside them too.

Sometimes that support looks like helping make sense of overwhelming medical bills.Sometimes it’s being an advocate when everything feels confusing.Sometimes it’s simply a hug, a conversation, or an opportunity to think about something other than cancer through healing arts programming.

Because people need people. 💜

Thank you, Kelley, for sharing your perspective and for supporting local cancer patients and families through the work of United Way of Hancock County.
