… THIS is what community and creativity can do! 🎨💗

Our friends at Awakening Minds Art raised more than $50,000 at their 16th Annual Art Auction, and we couldn’t be happier for them!

But there was something especially meaningful about this year’s event for Cancer Patient Services.

CPS was recognized as the 2026 Honorary Agency, celebrating our longstanding partnership with Awakening Minds Art and the opportunities they’ve helped provide for local cancer patients and their families.

And how special is this?! 🥹

Richard Campbell, one of our Healing Arts participants, shares this beautiful collaborative peacock painting featured in the auction! He was there to see the artwork displayed and celebrated by the community.

THIS is why we believe so strongly in healing the whole person.

Art gives people opportunities to express themselves, connect with others, build confidence and find moments of joy during some incredibly difficult times.

We’re so proud of Richard, so grateful for this partnership and SO excited to see our friends at Awakening Minds Art receive this kind of community support!

We picked up a bouquet last week!

Our friends at Sink's Flowers and Greenhouse are spreading a little extra GOOD this October with their beautiful Pink Carnation Bouquets!

A portion of every bouquet sold this month will be donated to Cancer Patient Services to support local cancer patients and their families. 💗

There’s more than one way to support Cancer Patient Services, and this is one we’re seeing more and more!

🤔 Have you heard of a Donor Advised Fund, or DAF?

We’ve been fortunate to see more donations to Cancer Patient Services coming through DAFs lately, and we’ve also been added as an eligible nonprofit for donors who choose to give this way.

So with DAF Day happening, we thought this was a pretty great time to talk about it!

A Donor Advised Fund is a charitable giving account. Donors contribute assets to the fund, may be eligible for a tax deduction at the time of that contribution, and can then recommend grants from those funds to qualified nonprofits they care about over time.

And yes… Cancer Patient Services can be one of them!!! 💗

DAF giving is growing quickly.
In fact, more than $326 billion in charitable assets are already held in Donor Advised Funds and committed to charitable giving.

🌟So maybe you already have a DAF and didn’t realize you could recommend a grant to Cancer Patient Services.

🌟Maybe you’ve heard your financial advisor mention one and weren’t quite sure what it was.

🌟Or maybe this is the first time you’ve ever heard the letters D A F together.

Either way, now you know!😅

And every gift entrusted to Cancer Patient Services helps us continue providing support to local cancer patients and their families right here in Hancock County. So, thank you!!!

2026 Flock Walk 🦩💗

Rain changed the plans, but it certainly didn’t change the Flock.

More than 450 people registered for our 5th Annual Flock Walk, coming together to celebrate survivors, remember those we’ve lost and show local cancer patients and their families just how many people are standing beside them.

We walked. We danced. We hugged. We laughed. We caught up. We cheered on our survivors. *And together, this incredible community raised $101,492 for Cancer Patient Services!!!

Sometimes support looks like a night at a hockey game! 🏒💗

Our sponsorship of our friends at Findlay Force also came with season tickets, so we decided those seats should belong to our clients first.

And then we received this message from Ryan and Kim after they attended a game:

"My wife and I wanted to personally thank you for the tickets to the game. We had a lot of fun. I used to play hockey in the men's league there at the cube for many years. The mascot is one of the guys I used to play with as well as the announcer Rich Fowler who I am sure you know pretty well. We got to talk with both which brought back a lot of really good memories. The Force lost 6-3, but scored their first home goals in the game."

The Force may not have gotten the win that night, but Ryan and Kim certainly made us feel like we did. 🥹

Because this is part of cancer support, too!

A night out.
Something to look forward to.
Time together.
Old memories resurfacing.
New memories being made.
And for a few hours, maybe getting to think about something other than cancer.

Not everything we provide comes in the form of financial assistance, medical equipment or help navigating a bill. Sometimes it’s simply an opportunity to go have FUN.

This license plate makes a difference. 🚗🎗️

You may have seen Ohio’s pink ribbon license plate on the road, but did you know the dollars connected to it come right back to help breast cancer patients here in Ohio?

We’re incredibly grateful to share that Cancer Patient Services has received grant funding from the Breast Cancer Fund of Ohio!

And here’s what makes this especially cool…

For every Ohio Breast Cancer Awareness specialty plate purchased, $25 goes to the Breast Cancer Fund of Ohio, which uses those dollars to support programs providing assistance to Ohioans going through breast cancer treatment.

That means something as simple as choosing this license plate helps create real support for people facing breast cancer.

And some of those dollars have now made their way right here to Cancer Patient Services, where they can help us continue supporting local breast cancer patients through an incredibly difficult time. 💗

So the next time you see that pink ribbon driving around Ohio, you’ll know there’s a pretty meaningful story behind it!

The more people who know, the more people we can help! 🙏

This week, Carol and Karen attended the Marathon Petroleum employee health fair with one goal: to tell as many people as possible about the support available through Cancer Patient Services.

Because cancer affects the whole person. And often it affects the people who love and care for them, too.

Financial concerns. Nutritional needs. Emotional support. Medical equipment. Understanding bills and insurance. Healing Arts. Caregiver support. Sometimes simply having someone to sit with you, listen and help figure out what comes next is what you need.

🫂We support healing the whole person through an incredibly trying time.

So we talked. We answered questions. We shared resources. And we hope we reached someone who will remember Cancer Patient Services if they, a coworker, friend or family member ever need us.

Because knowing we’re here is the first step to letting us help.

Thank you to Marathon Petroleum for giving us the opportunity to share what we do. We hope we made an impact! 💗

Not everything about a cancer diagnosis has to be medical speak...

Sometimes it’s sitting around a table talking about the best way to nourish our bodies!

During a recent appointment, Joanne spent time with one of our patients and one of their caregivers talking about the importance of nutrition throughout cancer treatment, including creative ways to get enough protein when treatment leaves you tired, nauseous, without much of an appetite or simply not feeling like yourself.

No complicated medical language. No judgment about what you “should” be doing.

Just real conversation about what might actually work for you right now.

Because sometimes supporting someone through cancer means addressing their humanness.

What sounds good?
What can you tolerate?
What feels manageable?
How can we make this a little easier?

We’re here for this kind of support, too.

And if you’ve ever spent time with our Program Director, Joanne Reinhart, you know what a gift she is to our patients and families. She listens. She problem solves. She meets people where they are. And she reminds them they don’t have to figure every part of this journey out on their own. She is truly a godsend to so many! 💗

Cancer affects so much more than the body. 💗

A diagnosis can change routines, relationships, emotions, and everyday life for the person facing cancer AND the people who love and care for them.

That’s why healing through the journey is such an important part of what we do at Cancer Patient Services!

In this behind the scenes look, our Healing Arts Coordinator, Bethany Powell, is at Awakening Minds Art during one of our group sessions, where clients and caregivers have space to create, connect, process and simply have a little reprieve from everything cancer asks of them.

Creative expression may seem like one small thing...

But sometimes one small thing is exactly what someone needs. 🥹

We’re so grateful for our collaboration with Awakening Minds Art and the opportunities they help us provide to local cancer patients and their families. 🎨💗
