In recognition of our 75th Anniversary, we continue our Past Chief Spotlight series with a tribute to Chief Gerald Kidd. Chief Kidd served as the chief of the Liberty Township Fire Department from July 1991 to September 1992. He was recognized for his hands-on approach, often being at the forefront of incidents, and was not afraid to challenge conventional methods. During his tenure, he oversaw the construction of Engine 515 and implemented various Fire Department improvements throughout the township. As a strong advocate for traditional firefighting practices, Chief Kidd's lasting legacy includes transitioning the department's fleet from yellow to red vehicles. His leadership style was distinctive, and while it may have led to some ruffled feathers, he was also committed to coaching midget football at Liberty-Benton and giving back to his community. Chief Kidd, LTFD thanks you for your service.

Today your Liberty Township Fire Department got to join in on the fun at the elementary students' field day. Our super important job was to cool off the kids after their fun-filled day. We think we succeeded in our mission and hope everyone who wanted to get drenched had their chance. As the school year winds down we want to wish the students and faculty at Liberty-Benton Local Schools a safe and relaxing summer.

This evening, Liberty Township Fire Department personnel participated in supplementary training exercises. Although not our regularly scheduled training day, we capitalized on favorable spring weather to focus on specific truck operation scenarios, water tanker shuttles, aerial ladder operations, and static water source drafting. The firefighters at LTFD appreciate the support from our community and strive to uphold the standard of service our residents expect.
