Glenwood's 7th grade Advanced ELA classes were invited to the US Federal Courthouse this week. Judge Jeffrey Helmick welcomed us into his courtroom to witness a change-in-plea hearing, while also allowing 16 students to sit in the jury box! It was an incredible way to conclude our mock trial lesson with The Outsiders from earlier in the year. What a fun and educational way to learn about our judicial system! 💙💛

Day 3 in DC 🇺🇸✨

We wrapped up an unforgettable 8th grade trip with a tour of the United States Capitol Building — the perfect ending to an amazing few days filled with learning, history, laughter, and memories our students will never forget.

From the memorials and museums to Arlington, the Capitol, and all the moments in between, this group represented our school so well. We are so proud of the way they conducted themselves throughout the trip!

Now it’s time to head home with tired feet, full hearts, and lots of stories to tell. 💙💛🚌

Day 2 in DC! 🇺🇸

Today our 8th graders walked through Arlington National Cemetery and had the incredible opportunity to witness the Changing of the Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier — a moment none of us will forget.

We grabbed lunch at Hard Rock Cafe, did a little souvenir shopping, and spent time reflecting at the Holocaust Memorial Museum. Students then explored museums of their choice, including the National Museum of African American History & Culture, the Museum of American History, and the Museum of Natural History.

We wrapped up the evening visiting the MLK, FDR, and Jefferson Memorials. So much learning, reflection, laughter, and walking packed into one amazing day! ❤️🤍💙

Day 1 in Washington D.C. is in the books! 🇺🇸

Today our 8th graders had the opportunity to visit some of our nation’s most powerful memorials and landmarks including the WWII Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, Korean War Memorial, Pentagon 9/11 Memorial, Air Force Memorial, and the Iwo Jima Memorial.
It was an incredible day filled with learning, reflection, and memories that will last a lifetime. We are so proud of the way our students represented our school throughout the day!

Can’t wait to see what Day 2 brings! 🚌✨💙💛
