The Findley Lake Fire Department would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Cory, Store Manager at Dollar General, his staff, and every customer who participated in the Memorial Day Weekend donation event held in memory of a beloved community member we lost earlier this year.

Through the generosity of so many, our department received donations of water, Gatorade, snacks, and other refreshments that will help keep our firefighters hydrated, fueled, and ready as we head into another busy summer season. Between emergency calls, community events, and training in the heat, these donations truly make a difference for our members.

We are incredibly grateful that Dollar General chose to honor a cherished member of our community in a way that continues to give back. The kindness shown by everyone who purchased and donated items reminds us just how fortunate we are to serve such a caring and supportive community.

From all of us at the Findley Lake Fire Department, thank you for thinking of our department, supporting our volunteers, and helping us continue to serve our neighbors safely and effectively.

Your generosity means more than you know. ❤️🚒

This afternoon at 3:36 p.m., FLVFD responded to a motor vehicle accident on Sunnyside Road after an SUV struck a residence. Airbags were deployed, and one occupant required extraction from the vehicle.

We are happy to report that no one in the vehicle or at the residence was seriously injured. Both occupants were evaluated for minor injuries and released at the scene.

Ambulance 231 and Tanker 231 responded. Our EMTs, firefighters, and fire police worked together to secure the scene and safely extract the occupants.

We also want to recognize our mutual aid partners — Stanley Hose Company, Chautauqua County Paramedics, and the Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office — for their swift response and support.

What a turnout! The Findley Lake Volunteer Fire Department wants to thank everyone who lined the streets for this year's Memorial Day parade. Seeing so many neighbors, families, and friends come out to celebrate together is what makes this community so special.

A heartfelt thank you to the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Memorial Day is about honoring their sacrifice, and we're grateful to stand alongside our community in remembrance.

Every spring, Main Street gives us a not-so-subtle reminder of how long winter really lasted. After months of snow, salt, sand, gravel, and whatever else got dragged around town, it was officially time for our annual Main Street wash-down. Spoiler alert: this year was EXTRA. 🚒💦

Yesterday, our crew took on the yearly cleanup to wash away all the winter buildup before Memorial Day weekend.

It was all hands on deck, plenty of hose work, and just enough overspray to keep things interesting. Somewhere between the third pile of gravel and the fifth soaked boot, we’re pretty sure summer started winning.

Huge thanks to all of our members who helped out. Findley Lake is officially ready for another summer by the lake. ☀️🇺🇸

🚒💪 BIG things are happening at the Findley Lake Fire Department!

This past Friday, a dedicated crew came together to make some serious progress on our brand new basement gym! Big thanks to Gary, Pam, Keith, Charles, Jessy (and our four-legged friend, Frankie) for rolling up your sleeves!

Shout-out to Murphy Mulkearn and Advanced Concrete Floor Finishes for donating supplies and going above and beyond to redo our basement floor. It was extraordinarily generous and sets the foundation for our renovation.

The whole space got a fresh new coat of paint, rubber mats are down, and we even assembled our first piece of gym equipment — generously donated by the one and only Tony Gioglio, you’re the man! We appreciate you spending the afternoon putting that puzzle together! 🎉

And thanks to the grant we received from Cummins Inc, we have the funding to continue building out the rest of the space into a full gym. This gym is all about keeping the members of FLFD healthy, strong, and ready to respond — whenever and wherever duty calls. Our community deserves first responders who are at the top of their game, and we are committed to making that happen!

Thinking about joining the FLFD family? This is just one of the many reasons it's a GREAT time to become part of our team! We're always looking for dedicated individuals who want to serve their community.

Stay tuned for more updates as the gym continues to come together!

Please join us in congratulating father-son duo, Robert McNinch and Tom McNinch, on earning new fire service certifications!

Robert McNinch — Fire Officer I
Tom McNinch — Fire Officer I & II

These aren’t quick weekend classes. Fire Officer I alone is a 63-hour commitment, covering everything from leadership and emergency response planning to fireground tactics and community safety. It’s the kind of training that sharpens decision-making when seconds matter most.

Tom didn’t stop there...Fire Officer II takes it even further — focusing on managing larger, more complex incidents, coordinating multiple crews, and making sure every moving piece works together safely and efficiently.

What does this mean for Findley Lake?

It means when the call comes in, you’ve got highly trained officers showing up ready to lead, assess, and act — with confidence and clarity. It means stronger leadership on scene, safer operations, and better outcomes for our community.

These certifications required a lot of hours, sacrifice, and dedication. Robert and Tom, we thank you for pushing to make the FLFD the best it can be!

👏 Help us congratulate them in the comments!

Our community is stronger when neighbors step up for neighbors. If you’ve ever thought about making a real difference close to home, this is a great opportunity to see how you can be part of something bigger.
