Thanks Betty Heath for your endorsement!
https://dougsharp.vote/betty-heath-endorsement/

Last month I wrote in my weekly column an article titled "Betty Heath: Is it rhetoric or logic?" My column this week is an article titled "Betty Heath: Voting is a responsibility."

I spent the past month looking for the logic and sorting out the rhetoric. I've researched the candidates and it is time to cast my vote.

This is why I am voting on April 5, 2022, for Douglas Sharp as Mayor of Firestone, Frank Jimenez, Don Conyac and Paul Sorensen as Trustees.

It is important that you vote to keep Firestone moving in the right direction.

TO ALL CITIZENS OF FIRESTONE, COLORADO

Over the past weeks, we have had the opportunity to observe and evaluate the perspectives and agendas of the various candidates for mayor and town board of trustees in the upcoming election on April 5, 2022.

Residents have made significant investments to live in Firestone. Let us continue to move forward and stay focused on providing a great return on all investments, including remaining positive and true to our core values. We need to continue working within our financial means to enhance our quality of life by delivering a balanced budget.

To this end, it is my pleasure to endorse Douglas Sharp to be our next Mayor with an honorable mention and close second to Samantha Meiring. It is also my honor to endorse Frank Jimenez, Don Conyac and Paul Sorensen to be elected as Trustees.

Douglas Sharp is honest and pragmatic with a hopeful insight into our community’s needs. He has the willingness to examine the issues and listen closely to the citizen’s questions and concerns. He is an experienced public servant with a clear vision for Firestone in the next decade. He is a prominent voice in community affairs and his public record shows his accomplishments and abilities that qualify him to be our next Mayor.

As Mayor Pro Tem, Frank Jimenez has represented the Town with excellence and distinction. He has gained the well-deserved respect of his peers as well as the residents of Firestone. Don Conyac is an experienced, thoughtful leader that listens and cares deeply about what is best for our community. Paul Sorensen is a great man that can hit the ground running with valuable experience as mayor and a past trustee. He will certainly be a valuable asset to Firestone’s Town Board.

These public servants have given over twenty years of service to the town. Each has wisdom, experience, caring hearts, and open minds. Decisions made now will affect us for many years to come. Let’s keep Firestone moving in a positive direction! I urge you to vote for these outstanding candidates for a strong future and continued focus on the best possible quality of life.

Voter e-mail regarding business and the second Rec Center

I received an e-mail from a resident Doug, a couple of quick questions if you have the time. We were wondering what your stance on building a new rec center by the library. Also how can the town promote to bring in new business? (We have plenty of dental offices) thanks for your time and […]

I am often asked the question about what types of business we need in Firestone. What types of business do we “select” or “recruit.” During the e-mail exchange regarding broadband, this resident asked about new new restaurant options. If you can get this done [broadband] as well as bring lot...

My latest blog post on the web page. https://dougsharp.vote/no-complaining-zone-ahead/
What can we do to give energy to Firestone?

I’m sitting here at my desk answering questions submitted on my web site from Firestone voters. I received quite a few great questions on water, finances and broadband. (Broadband had the most questions!) So what do I write for this blog? I’ve been busy for the past few days meeting people and c...

This election is about preparing Firestone for a great future. It’s not about lamenting the past.

The Pandemic has distanced us as a community and I want us to come back together in community and fellowship in 2022. The work we do today will strengthen our Town for the coming decades. We need to keep moving forward.

Great communities are the product of innovation, strategic planning, and investments. Some believe that our community is not worth investing in. I disagree! We should invest in projects and initiatives to benefit all of us. As residents we have made significant investments to live in Firestone. We must have a Town Government that is focused on providing you a great return on your investment. As your Mayor I promise to balance income and expense such that every dollar spent benefits you and your family.

Running for Mayor is expensive!

I just wrote a check to mail post cards to all registered voters in Firestone. Add to that the cost to purchase yard signs and banners. Also the cost of newspaper advertisements. Running for Mayor is downright expensive!

This plan continues to develop and will come back to the Board of Trustees soon. What are your thoughts? What should I consider as a potential Mayor (or current Trustee)?
