As Memorial Day marks the unofficial beginning of summer in Door County, we hope everyone takes time to enjoy the weekend with family and friends while also remembering the true meaning of the day.

Today, we honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. Their courage and sacrifice will never be forgotten.

From all of us at Gibraltar Fire & Rescue, have a safe and meaningful Memorial Day.

For training this week, we applied our skills to train on vehicle stabilization.

For the rest of training this month, we will continue to train on auto accidents as the county becomes busier.

If you happen to have an old vehicle you'd wish to donate to us for training, send us a message!

Last weekend, Gibraltar Fire & Rescue had the pleasure of hosting the Autism & Sensory First Responder Meet & Greet, where children on the autism spectrum from across Door County had the opportunity to meet local first responders in a calm, welcoming environment.

Attendees were able to interact with personnel from Door County fire departments, Door County EMS, the Door County Sheriff's Department , and the Door County K-9 Search & Rescue Team while exploring emergency vehicles, meeting K-9s and their handlers, and participating in a mini fire safety obstacle course.

The event also featured an informative presentation by Dr. Christine Voigtlander of Gibraltar Area School District, who shared valuable insight on children on the spectrum and how first responders can better interact with and support them during emergency situations.

A very special thank you goes out to Klaud's Kitchen 2.0 for generously providing food and beverages for attendees, as well as lending helping hands before, during, and after the event.

Lastly, we would like to recognize Ephraim and Egg Harbor Firefighter/First Responder Miranda Bader, whose vision, dedication, and hard work brought this important community event to life.

Events like these strengthen understanding, build trust, and help ensure that every member of our community feels seen, supported, and safe. We are grateful to everyone who participated and helped make this meaningful event such a success.

Also, got an old junk car and don't know what to do with it?

Let us train on it!

Happy Mother’s Day to all of the incredible moms, grandmas, stepmoms, mother figures, and firefighter/EMS spouses who keep our families, crews, and communities going strong every single day.

From the moms responding to calls, to the ones waiting at home while loved ones serve — today we celebrate all that you do. We also hold close the memories of the moms and mother figures no longer with us, whose love and influence continue to shape our lives every day.

Thank you for the strength, support, patience, and love you bring to our families and our community.

Wishing you a safe, relaxing, and Happy Mother’s Day from all of us at Gibraltar Fire & Rescue.

Tomorrow is the day! 🚓🚒🚑

The Fire Departments of Door County, along with local EMS, law enforcement, and emergency management agencies, invite families to attend tomorrow’s Autism & Sensory Friendly Meet & Greet from 9:00 AM–12:00 PM at the Gibraltar Fire Department in Fish Creek.

This calm, welcoming event gives children with autism and other sensory or developmental needs the opportunity to meet local first responders in a comfortable, controlled setting. Families can explore emergency vehicles, meet first responders, and participate in a relaxed morning designed with sensory needs in mind.

Snacks and beverages will be provided, and all are welcome.

We hope to see you there!

Gibraltar Fire & Rescue was proud to also be on hand this weekend at the Door County YMCA’s annual Healthy Kids Day event. This year’s event brought us to Sturgeon Bay, where we were joined by our mutual aid partners from Nasewaupee Fire Rescue.

Children in attendance had the opportunity to take on our Fire Safety Obstacle Course and cool off with a hands-on water game featuring NFR’s tender—always a crowd favorite.

A big thank you to the crews from both departments who staffed the event. While we were a bit short-handed due to training commitments, our members stepped up and delivered a great experience for the Door County community.

We also extend our appreciation to the YMCA staff for the continued invitation to be part of such a meaningful event. We look forward to seeing everyone next year when Healthy Kids Day returns to Fish Creek!
