A Runaway Beginning - CannaRHx
It all started over considering facilities that were readily available on our farm that was celebrating 100 years of operation on the floor of the Red River Valley of the North, with the requirements that were being put out by the various government agencies to attain a license for, and start growing the newly legalized but long talked about crop called H**P!
CBD oil is just one of the elements that are in this plant..which of course is so often stirred together with ma*****na. But, they are significantly different animals, both legally, and in what they contain when it’s time to harvest. At this time in Minnesota, H**P - LEGAL, MA*****NA - NOT LEGAL. Paperwork - Mountainous! But in a couple of months we had the one paper that counted in our hands, and a business plan laid out, and a financial play somewhat laid out. The main premiss, different than most was that we were NOT going ALL IN, but rather dipping out big toes in the water, with the idea of research, learning, experimenting, and really sitting back and watching what the industry would do as the WILD WILD WEST days changed into the, this is “just another crop” days. By the way, as of March 2020, we’re still very much in the WILD WILD WEST!
Looking back on our first year with 20-20 hindsight (no relation to the year) you could say up to the moment of harvest that we had a perfect year going! If you look at our plants and read the daily diaries it’s unbelievable. We selected land that was literally virgin. It had been a PIG PEN from 1919 till 1960, then it had sat idle as grass land till we broke it in May of 1919. 960 plants went into 22 carefully tended banks marked A & B. Every seed had a little plastic marker by it with it’s Bank, row, and seed number. (BTW A,14,32 was the most awesome plant!) Most were planted seed to ground. Some were planted in Peat cups and put in the ground when the seedlings were about 3 inches tall. It didn’t matter, you couldn’t tell the different a few weeks later. But we got better germination from the Peat cups. MORE TO COME
