Join us at the Library on Wednesday, April 22 at 5:30 p.m., for a compelling discussion of our latest Book Club selection: Strangers: A Memoir of Marriage by Bella Burden.

This memoir has captured national attention for its startlingly frank portrayal of a marriage’s sudden end. Burden explores the complexities of identity and the unsettling realization of how little we may truly know those closest to us. Written with bracing honesty from a unique perspective of privilege, it is a fascinating study of resilience and life-altering change.

Congratulations to our wonderful Librarian, Ann Banks, on 50 years of dedicated service to the Fishers Island Library! Since her first day on January 10, 1976, Ann has been the backbone of our Library.

For five decades, Ann has been more than just a curator of books; she has been the keeper of our stories, a guide for curious minds, and a steady hand as our library evolved through the generations. From the days of card catalogues to the digital era of today, her commitment to our community has never wavered.

Ann was honored at the Island Senior Luncheon last week—the first of several celebrations of Ann's remarkable years of service to the Library.

Ann, you’ve helped us find our favorite novels, researched our local history, and welcomed every new generation of islanders with open arms. We are so lucky to have you at the helm.
