Update as of 5:30 pm: After a bit of a foot pursuit, all subjects were taken into custody and are now safely back in their barn.

If you are missing a black cow, a couple of sheep and a handful of goats, our officers saw them this morning near Van Wyck Lake Road.

The Town of Fishkill Police Department extends our deepest condolences to the Town of Newburgh Police Department on the loss of one of their detectives.

Town of Fishkill Police share a deep connection with the Town of Newburgh Police as many of our officers have been members of that agency and our agencies have worked many cases together.

Our thoughts and prayers are with their department, the detective’s family, friends, and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.

Superintendent Scofield was a fixture in the Town of Fishkill for years.
Although he will be missed, his legacy will live on in the roads and facilities of the town that he helped build and maintain.

For over 50 years the residents of the Town Fishkill put their faith in Glenn Scofield and over those 5+ decades Glenn faithfully and dutifully served the Town of Fishkill. He was the true embodiment of what a public servant should be…honorable, kind, trustworthy, and always up to the challenge. We lost a giant today, a pillar of our community. Our thoughts and prayers are with Glenn’s family during this difficult time. Rest in Peace Superintendent.

UPDATE: Rt 9 is open (Thanks DOT!)
There will be intermittent lane closures on Friday, July 31 as they finish up the repair.

For the next day or so there will be a bump where the road was damaged, so please drive carefully. If you obey the speed limit you won’t have a problem with the bump…or with any of our officers.

CAUTION: Route 9 between Van Wyck Lake Road and Clove Road has been damaged due to flooding and will be closed until NYS DOT can make repairs.

Happy Birthday, America! Hoping you enjoy the freedoms earned by the soldiers who passed through the Fishkill Depot 250 years ago. Remember to honor their sacrifice this weekend as well.

This Fourth of July, please keep in mind the hot dry conditions we've had recently. If your celebration includes anything flammable, please make sure to take precautions not to start a brush fire. Celebrate safely.

Please be aware of a new scam going on locally. We received reports of a subject attempting to collect money for the Town of Fishkill Police Department. This subject was able to spoof our phone number to make the phone call look like it was coming directly from the department. If you receive a phone call and have any questions please call us at 845-831-1110 to confirm.

Starting this week you may notice brand new body cameras on Town of Fishkill Police Officers.

A little about what they do and what they don't do:
- They do record audio and visual information (although an Officer can disable the microphone or the camera to preserve someone's privacy in particularly sensitive cases.)
- They do continually buffer, so the camera will "remember" the 30 seconds of video before the Officer hits the button to record.
- They don't have A.I. that scans the video, automatically generates reports from footage or provides information to another agency.
- They don't always provide a perfect recreation of everything an Officer sees and hears at an incident. The human element of an Officer's written reports and in-person testimony is still necessary for everything we do.

We are looking forward to having these cameras help us record our interactions with citizens and preserve evidence. (And we are already there: on the first day they were out, a camera captured a DWI suspect on video.)

If you see an Officer with one, feel free to ask about it. They will be happy to explain how we use the cameras & store the videos.

Town of Fishkill Police worked with our state and federal law enforcement partners to identify and arrest several individuals who are now charged with serious felonies.
