There are two beaver dams on the Quinebaug River Water Trail at East Brimfield Lake. Park rangers recently paddled out to one of these dams and were glad to see that it’s currently passable. They took the time to clear a path for portaging in case the beavers decide to rebuild. The rangers plan on inspecting the upper dam (believed to be more substantial) soon. We realize that these obstacles along the river trail pose a challenge and appreciate everyone’s patience as we consider options.

We have some exciting news! Lake Siog Recreation Area will be open daily from 10am-6pm through the month of August (7 days a week). So far, water quality has been good this season. We will continue to test weekly and will notify everyone through Facebook if we receive less than satisfactory results.

Lake Siog Recreation Area will officially open for the season this Saturday, May 23rd. The park will be open Fri-Sun from 10:00am - 6:00pm through Labor Day (in addition to Memorial Day and Labor Day).

We have begun storing water upstream at East Brimfield Dam to ensure ideal flows for the Sturbridge Lions All-American River Race. The race is scheduled for April 26, 2026. It will start at Turners Field in Fiskdale at 11:00 am end at Westville Recreation Area. All are welcome!

MassWildlife recently stocked Holland Pond (aka Lake Siog) and the Quinebaug River in Holland with trout.
