Congratulations to Fitchburg Firefighters Connor Caisse, Sean Donelan, Anthony Russo, Danny Sanchez, and Peter Selig on their graduation yesterday from the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy’s Career Recruit Firefighter Training Program Class #339.

Over the past several months, these individuals have dedicated themselves to the demanding process of becoming career firefighters. Through countless hours of hands-on training in fire suppression, search and rescue, hazardous materials response, firefighter survival, and teamwork under pressure, they have built the skills needed to serve our community.

Congratulations Firefighters Caisse, Donelan, Russo, Sanchez, and Selig!

Earlier this afternoon, Group 1 companies were dispatched for the report of a possible residential building fire in the Bemis Rd area. First arriving crews reported a large amount of heavy fire showing from the front and side of the building. Crews immediately deployed multiple attack lines, established a water supply, and gained access to the roof via aerial ladder. The fire was quickly knocked down before overhaul operations conducted. The fire caused extensive damage to the main residence as well as siding on an adjacent exposure. The incident went to a working fire.

No injuries were reported.

6 residents were displaced.

We would like to thank our neighboring communities for their assistance during the incident on scene and with city coverage.
