Students from the welding and autobody programs at Montachusett Regional Vocational Technical School built a custom bookshelf shaped like the word READ for our Legacy of Learning campaign! Donor names will appear as handcrafted “book spines” created by Eagle Trophy .

This project for Fitchburg Public Library, MA and the City of Fitchburg is pure community creativity and collaboration at its finest! 🤝

Brick by brick 🏗

You may have noticed the purple and gray materials on the exterior of the new addition. The purple is the sheathing, and the gray is the air-and-vapor barrier (AVB). The masonry team is now installing the brick exterior, working their way around the building as the AVB is finished.

🏗️ Building a library. Strengthening a partnership.

The Fitchburg Public Library, MA was pleased to welcome Heather Backman, Library Building Specialist with the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners (), and Trey Logie, Project Manager with Colliers Project Leaders, for a tour of the renovation and expansion project.

As a valued funding partner, the MBLC has played an important role in helping bring this vision to life. Their continued support, along with the dedication of our project partners, is helping create a library that will serve the Fitchburg community for generations to come.

It was a wonderful opportunity to share the progress that's been made, discuss what's ahead, and showcase how each new milestone brings us closer to Offering a World of Learning to all.

Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners’ library building specialist Heather Backman stopped by the construction site last week for a quarterly check‑in. These visits help ensure strong communication, steady progress, and continued collaboration as we move through the Massachusetts Public Library Construction Program.

The MBLC awarded the City of Fitchburg a $12,449,949 construction grant to support the renovation and expansion project, an investment that strengthens community access, improves library services, and helps create a modern, energy‑efficient building for generations to come.

We’re grateful for their ongoing partnership and guidance as this project moves forward. Big things are happening at the Fitchburg Public Library, MA!
