City of Fitchburg

City of Fitchburg The City of Fitchburg is a community of about 41,000 people located in north-central Worcester County.

Despite being one of the largest cities in the county, Fitchburg retains its small town flavor. Fitchburg is noted for its old mills that line the Nashua River, its hilly topography and regional parks and its tightly knit neighborhood enclaves that, in many cases, still retain their ethnic identity. Among the City's cultural assets are the Fitchburg Art Museum, Fitchburg State University and the w

orld famous annual Longsjo Classic bicycle race. Official website: http://www.fitchburgma.gov

Join Us at Canvas at 3:00PM for a ribbon cutting with Sam Squailia, Fitchburg Mayor, followed by a meet and greet with participating artists, city officials, and exhibit organizers with complementary light refreshments served. We will then walk the Unity in the Community Art Walk (weather permitting) to view the public exhibit.

What is Unity in the Community?

It’s a new community-based public art exhibit where we asked local artists to create images that inspire hope, togetherness, and love. We look to embrace our differences, defy the hatred spreading throughout our country and the world, and come together as one. 12 artists were selected from 9 artists and printed large scale on perforated window vinyl and put on display at participating buildings up and down main street for a period of approximately 6 months.

Artwork is (or will be) visible from the sidewalk at the following Main St., Fitchburg addresses:

305 Main Street (Select Engineering)
326 Main Street (CANVAS by Coff33 Corp.)
470 Main Street (NewVue Communities)
491 Main Street (Jacob Zapata Properties)
564 Main Street (The Arc of Opportunity)

This program is supported in part by a grant from the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency, as well as, the Fitchburg Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency. It is also supported by the City of Fitchburg, Fitchburg State University, and the Fitchburg Cultural Alliance. We also thank our project partners: The Arc of Opportunity, Coff33 Corp., Shane Signs, and InTown Fitchburg.
