Stoner Prairie Elementary Stoner Prairie Elementary serves nearly 400 students in the Verona Area School District.

The Verona Area School District (VASD), alongside Stoner Prairie, is working with all district schools to ensure that:
•Every student has a personalized learning plan that provides a path to discovery and achievement and that plan is reviewed and changed at least annually based on the student’s needs
•Every student’s parent, guardian or advocate participates directly in the design, implementation

and outcomes of that student’s personalized learning plans
•Every student meets or exceeds personalized learning plan goals every school year
•Every Verona Area High School student graduates
•Every graduate achieves their choice of college and career path

We're looking for local people to help our students become better readers. As part of Reading Corps, you'll work with K-3 students to provide extra practice and individual support. Part-time and full-time opportunities are available beginning in August. Tutors earn a paycheck every 2 weeks, plus additional money for tuition or student loans. Students who read have the power to succeed. Join our team at Stoner Prairie as a Reading Tutor, and you can support students as they become stronger readers.
Reading Tutors serve during the school day and work with pairs of K-3 students to help them build skills and confidence. With great training and support from an onsite coach, you’ll use proven activities that help students improve as readers.
This is a paid AmeriCorps member position with Reading Corps. No teaching experience is required! All you need is a passion to help kids succeed. By giving your time as a tutor, you can make an incredible impact and help our students thrive!
Tutor Perks
· A paycheck every two weeks
· Additional money for college tuition or student loans. Tutors aged 55 and older may gift this to their child, grandchild, stepchild, step-grandchild, or foster child
· Child care assistance – based on family size and income
· Federal student loan forbearance and interest repayment
· Predictable schedule – daytime hours with no evenings or weekends
· Time off over most school release days and holidays

Looking for a meaningful way to support students in our Stoner Prairie community? 📚🌟

Stoner Prairie Elementary is looking for a Reading Corps Tutor for the upcoming school year! Reading Corps tutors work with students one-on-one or in pairs to help strengthen reading skills and confidence. No teaching degree is required — just a passion for helping kids succeed. Training is provided.

This is a wonderful opportunity to support our students and community while gaining valuable experience and benefits along the way.

We would love to welcome a caring Stoner Prairie grown-up or local community member to our school team this fall. If you or someone you know may be interested, please help us spread the word!
