Indigenous Action Media (IAM) was founded on August 25th, 2001 to provide strategic media support and direct action to address issues impacting Indigenous communities. IAM offers media strategy consultation and support in the face of environmental & social injustices. We do this through direct support, workshops, web and graphic design services, documentaries and youth empowerment projects. We are

a volunteer collective of experienced Indigenous media makers & activists that work together on a project by project basis for media justice from an anti-colonial & anti-capitalist framework.

Even in anarchistic spaces, militant anticolonial praxis can be white washed by a rebranding of settler colonialism.

As we watch yet another genocide unravel before our eyes, how many people needed to be reminded they’re on stolen land while shouting “Free Palestine,” settling into their neighborhood associations and tenant unions.

We prefer militant anticolonial praxis in how we burn the path towards total liberation. Everyone can be an accomplice to take back what belongs to us ❤️‍🔥

Q***r means attack. Q***r means fighting for liberation from the captivity of the colony and its genders.

As we face coordinated waves of legislative annihilation and ongoing overt fascist terror, turn our days of pride into nights of settler destruction.

Smashing cis-heteropatriarchy is ceremony.

TERFs and SWERFs f**k off.

Liberation > Pride

The need for militant, armed defense of our communities is clearer than ever. “Optics” be damned. Our people are being murdered every day. For Indigenous and Black q***r people, we have always known the goal of the colonizer: to wipe us out. It’s time to face the reality of the ongoing deadly threats to us and our q***r siblings.

Carry self defense items, and know how to use them. Pepper spray is probably best - you can use it against an attacker while still keeping your distance, and unlike a knife, it can’t be deadly if turned on you. If you are attacked, make yourself a hard target. Fight back, fight dirty, and focus on getting away from your assailant.

Join a self defense group.

Find a self defense group in your area, and train. In larger cities, there may be free or low-cost self defense classes available for LGBTQ+ people.

If you are disabled, this includes you too. There are many ways to train besides going for runs or lifting weights. We can experiment with ways that mobility aids can be used to defend ourselves. For those with some mobility, we recommend focus on blocks and escapes. Stun guns and pepper spray are your best friends. We recognize that everyone’s disability is different; form affinity groups and brainstorm with your disabled comrades about what the best method of self-defense is for you. If you are disabled, sound off in the comments about how you choose to attack! Not about anything less than legal, though of course ;)

Start a safety patrol in your q***rborhood.

Lack of organization means we become organized by something else - this is what the state calls “order.”

The oppression of the masses by a small number of colonizers and capitalists is the consequence of the inability of most individuals to put themselves in (some kind of) agreement and organize with others for the liberation of colonized Peoples and lands.

A few hundred people could topple a racist statue in a few hours. Could one individual accomplish the same task over a few hundred days? There is an ungovernable strength that comes from the convergence of our collective effort.

Disorganization, poor organization and isolation end up supporting colonialism, capitalism and the state as they do not allow for the accumulation of enough force or power to stop global imperialism and colonialism.

Many things can be used to increase our force and power: weapons, information, training, adequate techniques, resource optimization, persuasion, machines etc. However, the most important instrument for this is organization!

To learn more ways of becoming ungovernable, check out our zine: 16 Things You Can Do To Be Ungovernable. P.S. F**k Biden. (Google it:))

Our favorite points from this are:

The risk-free changes already happened.

NOTHING IS MORE HIGH-RISK THAN DELAY

We have seen again and again that police response bears no correlation to the scope, intensity, or legality of the action.

A collective abolitionist politic understands that if we want consequential change for all we must accept risk.

There is always differential vulnerability to risk: this unequal distribution is often organized according to race, gender, experience, previous criminalization, and other factors.

The most under threat are often the most committed to revolutionary struggle. Solidarity with such movements begins not in taking jobs as risk managers but in struggling alongside to the best of our capacities.

From escalatenetwork.org tons of great resources there!

On October 6th, 15 year old 2 spirit Diné, Tay James was assaulted by Flagstaff Police officer Austin Kane and (now gone) Summit High School principal Trish Callan Eberlein.

Taydem James is facing four charges including three felonies for defending herself as she was choked during the assault.

We have started this fundraiser to support the James family getting legal representation and most importantly - rest.

Turtle Island to Palestine End Colonial Violence MMIWG2sT seen in so-called Flagstaff, Arizona, May 5th 2024

May 5th is for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women Girls 2 spirit and Trans people, their families and the community.

The crisis of our continued genocide rests on the bloody hands of the state. Who have carrolled us into reservations, stolen our land and ruined our clan systems and how we relate to one another - free from violence. These are all measures that our Palestinian kin have been experiencing at the hands of the settler state of Israel.

The desecration of our land by settler-colonial states like the US and Israel is violence against our bodies.

When we consider the leading cause of death for a Native women is murder, we have to recognize the conditions for the erasure of our stolen Indigenous women girls 2 spirit and trans folks were and have been designed to keep us subservient to their occupation.

Occupied “Arizona” is the 3rd highest number of (known) cases of .

To all the mmiwg2st, as you rest in love, we will rage in beauty!

In memory:

Ariel Bryant, found deceased 2019 outside of Flagstaff.

Vanessa Lee, found deceased 2018 in the Rio De Flag downtown Flagstaff.

Nicole Joe, deceased on christmas day 2017, her ex was ultimately found guilty of second degree murder.

Loreal Tsingine, shot in 2016 five times by Winslow police officer Austin Shipley.

Yesterday morning, a group of NAU students in occupied Kinłani took to the lawn outside the student union and joined the global struggle for a free Palestine. Many Indigenous students were present; sharing medicine, stories, songs, and dance as well as spreading the word on Indigenous issues happening in Kinłani itself such as the struggle against sacred site destructions, including showing support for Taydem James, a Diné high school student facing charges after being racially profiled and brutalized by FPD.

Despite harassment from Zionist counter-protestors, the camp remained determined to hold out, also despite calls from the university to disperse at 10pm.

Like many stories we’ve all heard before, what started as a tame encampment led by self-appointed “marshals”, quickly turned brutal as riot police swept through campus, tackling, arresting, and even tasing students who refused to leave the encampment. Tear gas was also deployed and most of the self-appointed “leaders” were arrested.

This brutality only emboldened students as the numbers steadily grew from about a hundred to hundreds of people flooding the pedway, demanding the police leave. Chants of “Leave our campus!” and “Free free Palestine!” could be heard ringing off the mountain all over Kinłani.

In total, 26 were arrested and the organizers of the protest, NAU SJP have announced that the events of the night will not deter them. There will be a vigil for those arrested and brutalized on the same lawn tonight at 5PM and jail support is ongoing. Send funds for bail to the club’s vennmoe @/SJPNAU.

To the end of Indigenous Action and beginning of Indigenous Abolition Media:

We are ending our work with Indigenous Action and looking forward to bringing you the same claws out, burn-the-cop-car critical analysis, news, and agitation propaganda as our new project and www.IndigenousAbolition.com

Over the last 22 years, we shaped our liberation work through zines, frontline media news and support, assemblies, teach-ins, study groups, mutual aid coordination and so much direct action that this “goodbye” statement simply couldn’t encapsulate.

KJB founded Indigenous Action - an agitator and visionary that kept the arrows flying straight to the colonizers’ heart. Different affinity groups and collectives have always been a part of IA and its projects. We honor all of those involved, past and present, with this transition.

Our collective and so many others worked with KJB on the website, zines and critical analysis, podcast, frontlines media, mutual aid, social media, and art through collective creation, writing, editing, and research. Action is the most powerful celebration of life. Follow us to continue the work at: and IndigenousAbolition.com

Frontline struggles who need media support can contact us on the new platform where we can amplify your voices again.

Now for what we’ve been so eager to tell you!!!

🥁🥁🥁

Mark your calendars for the 2nd Indigenous Anarchist Convergence set to be held on November 28, 2024 - that’s right, on No Thanks No Giving Day. More details to come as we endeavor to open a new infoshop to host all you bad babes (most likely in Arizona or Cali).

We are also asking for direct aid to cover the cost of website and software transition, estimated at $500.

We have gotten multiple inquiries regarding Klee'ba's No Spiritual Surrender, and the Burn the Fort board game being SOLD OUT. There will be more news in the future, but just be patient an additional pressing of the current version (there are some needed corrective revisions) of the book will be happening soon. Additional production in relationship to the board game is a bit more complicated, but you all will know more as soon as we do ...
