Coconino County Parks & Recreation operates and manages six county parks and two natural areas, which are free to the public:

An owl takes a break in the grass.

Wild Neighbors: Stories from CCPR Trail Cams

While most of us are asleep, Rogers Lake County Natural Area is very much alive.
Our trail cam caught this owl keeping watch in the dark.

Coconino County is home to several owl species, including the Great Horned Owl, the Western Screech Owl, the Northern Pygmy Owl, and the Long-eared Owl.
Nocturnal and nearly silent in flight, owls are among the most rarely spotted wildlife in our parks, which makes a trail cam sighting like this one extra special.

Rogers Lake County Natural Area sits about 10 miles southwest of Flagstaff on Woody Mountain Road, 2,200 acres of high-elevation wetland and wildlife corridor that is maintained and protected by Coconino County Parks and Recreation.

Happy National Dog Day!

Celebrating with a trail walk at Fort Tuthill or another park? We love seeing pups on the trails. Here are a few quick reminders to keep it fun for everyone:

Leash required, 6 feet or shorter at all times per Coconino County Leash Law
Bag waste and use the trailhead trash cans, or pack it out if none are available
Keep dogs on the trail to avoid disturbing wildlife
Bring water and a portable bowl; dogs overheat faster than people do

Let's keep our parks beautiful for every visitor on two legs and four.

Wild Neighbors: Stories from CCPR Trail Cams

Our trail cam caught this deer doing her best to get a drink in peace while a whole crew of wild turkeys decided the watering hole was the spot to be.

Rogers Lake County Natural Area is home to an incredible diversity of wildlife sharing the same wetland habitat. Deer, elk, turkeys, bobcats, bears, bald eagles and more all depend on this land for water, food and shelter.

Moments like this one are a reminder of how much life thrives here when we protect and steward these natural spaces.

Be a pack mule when visiting parks and natural spaces! Pack it in. Pack it out!

No matter where your journeys take you, from playing a round at Fort Tuthill Disc Golf Course, riding at the Bike Park, hiking our trails, or enjoying time with family at one of Coconino County Parks & Recreation's parks and natural areas, help us keep these special places beautiful for everyone.

Please use trash and recycling receptacles when they're available, and if you're out on the trail, remember to pack out everything you pack in.

Wild Neighbors: Stories from CCPR Trail Cams

At 6:16 pm, our trail cam caught this bobcat finishing his evening at Rogers Lake County Natural Area.

Bobcats are solitary and elusive, and most people spend years hiking in Northern Arizona without ever spotting one. Our trail cams give us a rare view into their world, right here on land maintained and protected by Coconino County Parks and Recreation.

Fort Tuthill County Disc Golf Course is an 18-hole forest course winding among the ponderosa pines inside the Fort Tuthill County Park. Established in 2018 and designed by Stan Johnson and the Flagstaff Disc Golf Club, the course features two 9-hole loops that both return to the parking lot.

Players can enjoy scenic, wooded fairways, slightly rolling terrain, multiple pin positions on most holes, and a mix of hole lengths for an intermediate-friendly challenge.
