Community members are invited to attend a virtual public meeting on June 25 to provide input on the update to the Greater Flagstaff Region Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP).

The CWPP helps identify wildfire risks and guides strategies for preparedness, mitigation, response, and recovery across our region. During the meeting, participants will learn about the planning process, wildfire preparedness actions such as creating defensible space, and opportunities to help shape the updated plan.

Time: 6-7 p.m.

Meet Flagstaff firefighters, ask questions, explore the equipment, and learn what it takes to join the fire service.

And since it’s Father’s Day, bring the whole family out for a great day in downtown Flagstaff while you explore what your future could look like. Enjoy live music, visit the Farmers Market across the street, and take advantage of what looks to be a beautiful Flagstaff summer day.

New Wildfire Incident
Name: Pocket Fire
The Pocket Fire is a 100-acre wildfire located 7 miles north of Sedona in the Oak Creek Canyon area. Evacuations are in effect for some areas of Oak Creek Canyon.

State Route 89A is closed between Fort Tuthill and the north end of Sedona.

Forest visitors in the Oak Creek Canyon area, as well as visitors to End/Edge of the World are asked to evacuate. Travel down Woody Mountain Road (Forest Road 231) is not advised at this time.

Firefighters will continue to work the fires edge throughout the evening.

The crew was thrilled to be a part of the fun and excitement, as well as enjoy the delicious food! We even got to be the announcers for the raffle! Congratulations to the graduates of the Greater Flagstaff Region Fire Academy Class 2026-01!

Eleven new firefighters officially joined the ranks and are ready to serve communities across the Greater Flagstaff Region. Over the past several months, these recruits have dedicated themselves to rigorous training, countless hours of study, and the development of the skills needed to answer the call when our community needs them most.

This academy represents the strength of regional partnership and a shared commitment to providing exceptional emergency services throughout Northern Arizona. The knowledge, teamwork, and professionalism demonstrated by these graduates will help ensure our communities remain prepared for the challenges of today and tomorrow.

Please join us in congratulating these 11 firefighters as they begin their careers in public service. We are proud of their accomplishments and excited to see the positive impact they will make throughout the Greater Flagstaff Region.
