NEW WILDFIRE INCIDENT
Name: Howard Fire
Crews are responding to a 3-acre wildfire located approximately 10 miles south of Flagstaff. There are currently no evacuations in effect and firefighters are making progress along the fires edge. The cause is currently under investigation.

The Greater Flagstaff Region trains for this year-round, and we are thankful for our extremely high-quality wildland fire response.
Please remember to recreate responsibly and always be mindful of fire restrictions.

Feel-Good Story Alert!

Sometimes the best examples of service don’t come from emergency responders—they come from members of our community.

Engine 5 responded to assist an elderly woman who was stranded after experiencing two flat tires on her vehicle. When crews arrived, they found that two young women, Kylie Clasen and Elaina Richins, had already been helping her for more than two hours.

After discovering the woman driving on two flat tires, Kylie and Elaina stayed with her while arrangements were made to tow the vehicle. The woman was from out of town and, after several attempts to contact friends and neighbors, there was still no easy way for her to get home.

Without hesitation, Kylie and Elaina offered to drive her home—a trip of approximately 30 minutes outside of Flagstaff.

Stopping to help a stranger is admirable. Spending hours assisting someone through an unexpected and difficult situation is exceptional. Going the extra mile to make sure they get home safely speaks volumes about their character.

The crew from Engine 5 was truly impressed by the compassion, kindness, and selflessness these young women showed to someone they had never met.

Today, we’d like to recognize Kylie Clasen and Elaina Richins as outstanding members of our community. Thank you both for reminding us what it means to look out for one another.

Please join us in recognizing Kylie and Elaina for their incredible act of kindness.
