Our Mission is to help children succeed by matching them with appropriate adult mentors. Researchers found that after 18 months of spending time with their Bigs, the Little Brothers and Little Sisters, compared to those children not in our program, were:

* 46% less likely to begin using illegal drugs
* 27% less likely to begin using alcohol
* 52% less likely to skip school
* 37% l

They also found that the Littles were more confident of their performance in schoolwork and getting along better with their families.

Sometimes, quality time with someone who cares is what you need to re-set and be ready to face the week. BIG Brothers BIG Sisters helps match boys and girls ages 6-18 with adult mentors in our community. BIG Brothers BIG Sisters Programs across the country have demonstrated that mentorship helps increase self-confidence, school attendance, and interpersonal skills and more. What kind of Commitment is involved in Being a BIG Brother or BIG Sister? School-based BIG Brothers BIG Sisters are matched with children from first-fifth grade in a group setting. BIGS commit to attend once-weekly activities with their Little at their school for the duration of the 9-month school year. School-based mentorship is offered at Thomas, Killip and Kinsey Schools, and we hope to be adding Puente de Hozho soon! Previously, I completed my undergraduate field hours at BBBSF as a BSW intern! Now, I’m on to my next challenge.
