What a terrific meeting we had on 7/16/26 where we formally inducted our officers for the coming year and shared our favorite books! Don’t forget to put our August 6th meeting on your calendar!
Tisha Rose, our area director, who performed the induction of our officers, also won Table Topics, discussing insights regarding her book, Becoming You, Losing Weight, Not Just Pounds.
Here are some other book suggestions from our meeting – inspiration for your next summer read!
Toastmaster and Past Year President Tom:
Atomic Habits: An Easy & Proven Way to Build Good Habits & Break Bad Ones, by James Clear, Random House, 2018.
Dear Committee Members, by Julie Schumacher, Vinta
ge, 2015.
Sum: Forty Tales from the Afterlife, by David Eagleman, Vintage, 2009.
New President Danielle: The Cruelest Miles: The Heroic Story of Dogs and Men in a Race Against an Epidemic by Gay and Laney Salisbury.
We have all heard the story of Balto but this book goes into the details about life in Alaska, politics and technological struggles at the time which set the stage for the famous dogsled race. While the Iditarod today thrills us with teams racing against one another, feeling the intense desperation of racing against time to save lives is quite different. Adventure, science, history and good dogs: need I say more?
VP Membership Kathleen:
Enough by Melissa Arnot Reid
This author has had a rough but cool life. The action is some really good first-person experience description. A hard read but real drama.
VP Public Relations Becky:
Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself by Dr. Joe Dispenza
A new science is emerging that empowers all human beings to create the reality they choose. The author combines new information from multiple fields to provide step-by-step tools to make measurable changes in any area of your life. A great resource for Toastmasters!
