Every day, the City of Flandreau works to provide our community with safe, reliable and affordable electricity. One of the resources that helps us do that is hydropower.
On Aug. 24, National Hydropower Day, we're celebrating the important role hydropower plays in powering communities across the Midwest. As a member of Missouri River Energy Services (MRES), we receive an allocation of cost-based federal hydropower marketed by the Western Area Power Administration (WAPA). This renewable energy is generated from dams along the Missouri River and helps provide a dependable source of electricity for the customers we serve.
Hydropower works to keep electricity bills in check. Long-lasting infrastructure and decades of stable, predictable output mean lower costs get passed straight on to you. That's real savings on your monthly bill. It's another reason to celebrate !
