The DPW is actively working on a water main break on Telegraph south of Leonard just north of the overpass.

The left lane of southbound Telegraph Rd will be closed until further notice. The right lane of southbound Telegraph will be intermittently closed during the repair process.

It is highly recommended that you avoid southbound Telegraph during this repair. Be patient with traffic backups during this time.

Slow down when traveling through this area for the safety of our DPW workers.

There is an officer in the construction zone to assist the DPW with lane closures.

As a reminder, any violations issued to drivers in the construction zone have “Double Fines” associated with any points and other court costs.

Be safe when traveling through this area and please pay attention so that no workers are injured.

Thank you

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Lincoln Park Fire Department and their families during this tragic time.

I worked with Adam for many years, he was a great firefighter/paramedic, husband and father and a great human being. You will be missed.

Stop by the Summer Blast and DUNK A COP. 3 tries for $10.00.

These officers stayed cool yesterday with the help of some accurate throwing festival visitors.

The rumor around the Blast is that the Chief of Police will be in the dunk tank at 300pm and again at 600pm.

Stop by and Dunk the Chief.

MYTH vs. FACT: Flat Rock Police Department License Plate Readers (LPRs)

We are aware of recent discussions about our use of License Plate Readers (LPRs), sometimes referred to by the company name Flock Safety. Here are the facts.

MYTH: License Plate Readers are used to track everyone in Flat Rock.

FACT: LPRs are an investigative tool that captures license plates and vehicle characteristics to help identify vehicles connected to reported crimes. They do not identify drivers or passengers, and they are not used to monitor people's daily activities.

MYTH: Police can access this information without limits.

FACT: Access is restricted to authorized Flat Rock Police Department personnel for legitimate law enforcement purposes and is governed by department policy and applicable law.

MYTH: The cameras don't make a difference.

FACT: They make a significant difference. LPRs have helped our officers recover stolen vehicles, locate wanted and violent offenders, identify suspects in robberies and homicides, and generate investigative leads in minutes that once took investigators days or weeks to develop. Our year-to-date violent crime clearance rate is 63%, well above the national average of 35–40%, and technology like this plays an important role in helping us solve serious crimes.

MYTH: This technology is unique or invasive.

FACT: Technology is part of everyday life. Cell phones, navigation apps, toll systems, security cameras, banking transactions, and countless other technologies collect information to provide services people rely on every day. Law enforcement uses LPR technology for one purpose—to help solve crimes, recover victims' property, and keep our community safe.

Our commitment is straightforward: Ensure Flat Rock one of the safest communities in Michigan.
