The Fleming County Fiscal Court is accepting applications for the position of Road Department
Secretary/Solid Waste Coordinator/FEMA Administrator. This is a full-time position responsible for
administrative support within the Road Department and oversight/coordination of county solid waste
operations.
Primary Responsibilities: Road Secretary Duties
Maintain records related to road maintenance, work orders, and projects
Assist with scheduling, communication, and documentation for road crews
Answer phones, respond to public inquiries, and route concerns appropriately
Prepare reports, correspondence, and maintain filing systems
Assist with budgeting documentation and purchase orders
Prepares monthly reports for fiscal court
Works with County Road Supervisor and Foreman during disasters and serves as FEMA
Applicant Agent
Makes signs for county roads as needed.
Solid Waste Coordinator Duties
Oversee daily operations of county solid waste services and convenience centers
Coordinate waste collection schedules and contractor/vendor communication
Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal environmental regulations
Maintain records, reports, and documentation related to waste management
Address citizen concerns related to trash collection and recycling
Assist in planning and implementing improvements to solid waste programs
Qualifications
Experience in office administration, bookkeeping, or related field preferred
Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.)
Ability to manage multiple tasks and work independently
Knowledge of county government operations is a plus
Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalency (GED), supplemented by two (2)
years of office related work, preferably in the public sector.
Additional Requirements
Must possess a valid driverโs license
Must be dependable, detail-oriented, and able to work with the public
Special Licensing Requirements : Must be bondable
Salary & Benefits:
Salary commensurate with experience
Benefits include participation in the County Employee Retirement System (CERS), health
