Lithium batteries can spark and cause fires in garbage trucks, recycling facilities, and landfills when damaged or crushed.
Common items containing lithium batteries include cell phones, laptops, tablets, rechargeable tools, wireless earbuds, and other electronic devices.
โ Do not place lithium batteries in your trash or recycling cart.

Instead, take them to an approved battery recycling or household hazardous waste collection site.
Before recycling:
โข Tape the battery terminals
โข Place batteries in individual plastic bags
