While many of us enjoy a long weekend with family, a celebration, maybe a cookout, or just appreciation for the much-needed rain that seems to be here for the weekend, let’s remember the meaning behind this special day and never take it for granted.

Happy Memorial Day from FPD!

From the Office of Chief Terry

May is Law Enforcement Month. The week of May
10 through the 16 is National Police Week. And
May 15 is Peace Officer’s Memorial Day. I’d like to
take a moment to recognize those that have given
the ultimate sacrifice in order to serve and
protect their communities. There have been far
too many.

I’d also like to thank those that continue to show
up, specifically our fine officers at the Fletcher
Police Department, committed to improving the
safety and quality of life here in Fletcher. Please
take a moment, pause, and reflect upon the often
unpredictable, dangerous, and emotional job our
officers do.

I am also grateful to the community for the
support we receive. I say thank you and ask for
your continued support and help in keeping
Fletcher the desirable place it is. You can continue
to help us by being our eyes and ears. Be aware of
your surroundings. Look after your friends and
neighbors. And, if you see something suspicious,
say something. Call 911

Thanks to everyone who came out to the pill drop at town hall this past weekend. Thanks for helping us get unwanted prescription medications disposed of properly, keeping them out of the wrong hands.

In addition, this was a town sponsored shred event, and Love and Respect Recovery Community Center from Hendersonville joined us disseminating materials related to substance use addictions and mental health challenges, making themselves known as a community resource for those experiencing such challenges.

We will you see you all again next year.
