Draft Public Comments - City of Flint Charter Review Commission
The Flint Charter Commission has finished a Draft City Charter that is now open for public comment for 30 days. You can see the draft charter, a summary of major changes, and submit comments by following the link. We also will have a public meeting to discuss the draft charter on February 25th at Bethel United Methodist Church.

The Charter Review Advisory Committee will be meeting this evening at 6 pm at Word of Life Christian Church, 460 W Atherton Rd, Flint, MI 48503. We will be discussing article 3: Legislative Branch. Specifically we will be discussing the position of the Clerk should it be an appointed or elected position? The role of the Ombudsman's office and article 3-309 Public Peace, Health and Safety.
The Charter Review Advisory Committee is a group of residents who work with the Charter Review Commission to share ideas on the Charter. All are welcome, please join us, light refreshments will also be provided.

Thank you to everyone who came out to the City of Flint Charter Review Commission Community Meeting about Wards & Council Structure. We got a lot of great thoughts from the community, we are drafting a report on the outcomes and will share it with you all soon!

The City of Flint Charter Review Commission met tonight and voted 9 - 0 to move proposal 3 to second reading, which means the Commission agrees that the City of Flint should have a strong mayor form of government!!

Name of Proposed Section: Form of Government
Suggested Article: In General
Text:
The voters of the City of Flint shall elect a chief executive for the City and a legislative body for the City under this Charter. This Charter may be amended pursuant to the law in order to improve the form of government stated in this section."
Now we just have to work on the details of how to increase accountability, transparency and active involvement. Thank you to all the residents who shared their opinions and please come to our next community meeting, April 19th at Asbury United Methodist Church from 5:30 - 7:30 to talk about wards and city council structure.

Charter Review Advisory Committee
The Charter Review Advisory Committee will be meeting this Thursday, December 3rd at 6 pm at Joy Tabernacle Church, 2025 N Chevrolet Ave. Please join us we will be talking about how to hold governmental officials accountable to enforcement of the Charter. This group is open to all city residents.
