Have you heard of Yinka's Coco Challenge?

For more than two decades, Elizabeth has championed equity, amplified community voices, and helped create opportunities for people to shape the decisions that affect their lives. Through her work advancing racial healing, educational access, and more equitable policies and practices, she exemplifies the power of thoughtful leadership and meaningful community engagement. The Rotary Club of Flint is pleased to welcome Jim Milanowski, President and CEO of the Genesee Health Plan, as this week’s guest speaker. Jim will provide an overview of the Health Plan and its role in providing health care coverage to Genesee County residents who may otherwise lack access to affordable care. He’ll also discuss the Genesee County Health Care Services Millage renewal, which will appear on the November 3 ballot, and what the proposal could mean for the future of these services.

Rotarians, please join us this Friday at noon at the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan Hunger Solutions Center to learn more about the Genesee Health Plan and the importance of accessible health care here in our community.

Congratulations to Dr. Raymond Gist who was honored as the 2026 Peacemaker of the Year by the Genesee County Committee for Community Peace during its Peace and Unity Day Celebration on Saturday, October 3. Dr. Gist’s commitment to building bridges, strengthening our community and promoting peace is an inspiration to us all. We’re proud to call him a fellow Rotarian and grateful for all he does to make Flint and Genesee County a better place!

Desmond leads one of Flint’s most important community resources, helping the organization fulfill its mission of connecting residents with knowledge, technology, educational opportunities, and one another. As the library continues to evolve to meet the changing needs of the community, his leadership is shaping its role as a vibrant hub for learning and connection. Today is International Literacy Day! 🙌 a day to celebrate reading and writing - the gift that connects us all! 🎉📚

We want to mark this day by sharing the remarkable story of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library and how Rotary supports her dream of putting books into children’s hands around the world 🌍🤝

Dolly created the Imagination Library as a tribute to her father, who Dolly regarded as one of the smartest people she had ever known, despite him never learning how to read and write.
