This Sequoia was cut around WWII. In addition to moving as fast as we can with Technology, today, we should be rooting ourselves in Earth's biospheric reality. Sequoias live +1,000 years, providing stability and moisture circulation benefits to all.

This beautiful Pileated Woodpecker was spotted in the Petrified Forest today. These giants are about 17 inches tall when mature! If you ever have the rare opportunity to observe one, you won't soon forget it. 😍

The Mississippi Petrified Forest is open for business again after a week of cold, snow, ice and power outage adventures!

The weather transformed the Mississippi Petrified Forest into an exceptionally beautiful winter wonderland! It also brought down trees and power lines! 🥶 Due to the ongoing power outage and pending cleanup of fallen trees and branches, we cannot determine a target date for re-opening at this time! It will be several days from now at best! The entire property is closed as we begin the process of recovery to......"normalcy"? 🤪 Watch for updates on our progress!

Hey y'all! We are happy to announce our re-opening after nearly 3 months closed! 😷MASKS ARE REQUIRED😷 in our gift shop and museum at this time. Occupancy is limited as we do our best to ensure safety for everyone. As always, we're looking forward to meeting you!

The Mississippi Petrified Forest is still currently closed due to COVID-19. We are busy getting safety measures in order and preparing to open an online store as well as re-open the nature trail, museum and gift shop. We will post another announcement here after we determine what our re-opening date is. The number of visitors will likely be limited in the gift shop with face masks being required. More than anything else, we want to ensure the safety of all visitors and each member of our staff as well. We thank you for your patience and want you to know that we are eager to have you visit safely and soon! 💚

It was a beautiful day to work with rocks and these sure made for an interesting set! One of these specimens will float 🌊, one can be cut with scissors ✂️, one is created by an earth collision from outer space 🌌 and one is just for fools 🤪. Do you know what they are?
