Flora PD Requests Community’s Help

Flora PD is actively investigating a string of auto burglaries that happened overnight in the Town of Flora.

We are asking all residents in the areas of Estes Street, 3rd Street, Calhoun Street, SW 4th Street, and Center Street, and all surrounding areas to please check your security cameras and doorbell recordings for evidence of any suspicious individuals and/or vehicles between the hours of 6pm yesterday (11/5) and 6am today (11/6). If you captured any footage or personally witnessed any activity that may be helpful to our investigation, please immediately call Flora PD at (601) 879-8871.

🚨 ARREST UPDATE 🚨

At approximately 6:00 pm today, officers with the Flora Police Department served a felony warrant on James Fred Jacks III for Burglary of a Dwelling on behalf of the Yazoo County Sheriff’s Department.

Chief Richard “Taco” Johnson stated, “Our department remains committed to keeping our community safe and free from those who choose to victimize others. We will continue working hand-in-hand with surrounding agencies to ensure criminals know they’re not welcome here.”

Outstanding teamwork by our officers and continued cooperation with our law enforcement partners. 💪

Flora Police Chief releases statement regarding pedestrian fatality:

On August 6, 2025 at approximately 9:41 pm., Flora Police Department responded to an emergency call regarding a vehicle collision involving a pedestrian in the area of Kearney Park Road and Sheppard Street. The driver of the vehicle called emergency services, remained at the scene, and was questioned. Flora Police Department investigated and released the driver, determining the collision was accidental with no contributing factors. No charges are currently pending, however anyone with any further information or who may have witnessed this accident are encouraged to contact Flora Police Department.

No further details will be released at this time.
