On Tuesday Patriot Company executed the Combat Water Survival Test (CWST). The Cadets test in 3 different areas. 15-meter equipment swim, equipment ditch, and high dive. For the 15-meter equipment swim they have to swim 15 meters unaided in with a FLC, front load carrier, and a 7 lb dummy rifle. Equipment ditch is where they have to jump into the deep end wearing the FLC and holding their weapon. They have ditch the FLC and weapon before surfacing and swimming to the edge of the pool. The last test is the high dive and it is to simulate an unexpected entry into water. A safety walks the blindfolded cadet to the edge of the high dive at which point the cadet jumps off. Upon entry the cadet removes the blindfold and has to swim to the edge with their dummy rifle. Francis Marion Life Guards assisted in making this event successful and safe. A huge thanks goes out to them.
