Imagine reducing fertilizer use, pesticide use, water use, and general plant maintenance in your yard without compromising its visual appeal. You can learn how to implement these sustainable gardening and landscaping practices through Clemson Extension's Carolina Yards Spring 2026 Online Course!

About the course: Carolina Yards was designed to assist and guide South Carolina homeowners in conserving water in their landscapes and making positive changes to the environmental quality of their yards, neighborhoods, and surrounding waterways.

Each spring, South Carolina residents are invited to participate in a 10-week, self-paced cohort course that provides an in-depth exploration of the 12 Carolina Yards Principles. Participants will engage in online settings and a face-to-face opportunity with a statewide learning community, interact with knowledgeable course facilitators, and apply what they learn to their own landscapes.

The course includes guided use of the Carolina Yards Workbook, opportunities to assess and design your yard, see other Carolina Yards in action at the optional field day and pursue an official Carolina Yard Certification upon completion.
