Through the month of November, F.T.P.D. officers gave their razors a break to help raise awareness for colorectal cancer. Colorectal cancer directly affected our department with the loss of Chief Alvin Scully a few years ago. The campaign is part of "No Shave November". During the month of November, the Department relaxes our policy on grooming to allow officers to grow a beard. In order to participate, the officer's must donate money to the Florence Township F.O.P. Lodge 210 for each shift they choose not to shave. The donations are then matched by the F.O.P. and donated to a non-profit organization, Fight Colorectal Cancer.
If you would like to make a donation, please follow the below link and join our team.

We know parking is at a premium in some sections of town especially with households with several vehicles, family and friends visiting and activities. The below list is a few of the most common parking violations that we see under NJ Statute 39:4-138, places where parking prohibited:
a. Within an intersection
b. On a crosswalk
d. In front of a public or private driveway
f. On a sidewalk
g. In any appropriately marked “No Parking” zone
I. Within 10’ of a fire hydrant

39:4-135 Parking direction and side of street:
Vehicles must be parked in the same direction as the flow of traffic within 6” of the curb or road edge.

Unless otherwise posted, all public streets in NJ are available to all motorists for parking. Placing an object in the roadway to reserve a parking spot is illegal. In addition, our local ordinance states “No garbage container or trash container or matter to be collected shall be placed on the curb for collection prior to 5:00 p.m. of the day preceding the nearest collection day, and such containers must be removed from the curb by 9:00 a.m. the day following the collection.”

Abiding by parking regulations and all motor vehicle laws will help keep us all safe.

RIVERFRONT MIDDLE SCHOOL PICKUP

This is a reminder that there is no parking on East Front in the area of the Riverfront Middle School. Front Street is a busy road and stopping in the no parking zones to pick up students is not safe for the student or the motoring public. When parking, please take a minute to look around for any no parking signs prior to walking away from your vehicle. These no parking zones have been there for years and are for your safety. Below are photos of the No Parking signs for your reference.

Please be mindful of the crosswalks. State law requires you to stop if a pedestrian is in the crosswalk. ALL DISTRACTIONS should be out of sight to avoid the temptation of using them.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Local Road Projects in Progress: Notice to residents that the township road program continues and various projects have a temporary effect on local travel. We will continue to post updates on our social media and weekly press release to alert the progress of such projects.

H. Kenneth Wilkie Park: The parking lot of the park is currently unavailable for use. The lot is being revamped to accommodate for additional parking spaces and the entrance area will be adjusted as well. We will update once the parking lot has reopened.

5th & Spruce Streets: Street and sidewalk work continues along 5th Street which requires areas of the street to be closed during the day. We are monitoring the progress and will update once work has been completed in this area.

Thank you.
