WE ARE ACHIEVERS: Harper Thead is completing her LAUNCH placement at Forest Hills Elementary School where she shadows a kindergarten teacher and also works in the after-school program.

She is getting a firsthand look at what it means to be an educator through her LAUNCH career-based learning experience!

Each day, she has the opportunity to connect with students by helping with their schoolwork, assisting with activities, and encouraging and supporting them as they learn and grow. Her favorite part? Getting to work with younger children, learning their personalities, and watching their growth throughout the year!

Harper’s LAUNCH experience has helped solidify her plans after high school. She plans to attend The University of Alabama or the University of North Alabama to major in Elementary Education with the goal of becoming an elementary school teacher.

We love seeing LAUNCH students turn their passions into purpose and get real-world experience in the careers they hope to pursue!

Harper, we can’t wait to watch you inspire the next generation!

September is Attendance Awareness Month, and we are excited to introduce a fun new incentive to celebrate great attendance across our school: The Monthly Attendance Challenge!

Each month, we will track class attendance across all grade levels. The classroom with the highest overall attendance wins our Traveling Attendance Banner to display proudly right outside their door for the entire month!

Congratulations to Mr. Noel’s 5th grade class who claimed the August crown. We can’t wait to see which class takes home the banner for September!

How You Can Help at Home:
Build the Habit: Aim for consistent routines for bedtime and morning wake-up times. Make sure students are on time!!
Plan Ahead: Whenever possible, schedule doctor appointments or family travel outside of school hours.
Reach Out: If your student is facing challenges getting to school, please let us know—we are here to support you!

Mrs. Diver’s class was selected as our first ever Forest Hills Defenders because they consistently did a great job following our school safety procedures, keeping their classroom secured, and setting a good example for other students. They’ll receive the Forest Hills Defenders trophy to display in their classroom for the month of September and a class party to celebrate of their choosing.

Thank you to our SRO, Officer Jesse Burns, for encouraging and celebrating safety and responsibility in our school!
