WE ARE COLLABORATIVE: Florence City Schools hosted a meeting of the Transformation Leadership Academy Monday morning.

TLA is a professional development forum designed for school superintendents and top-level educational leaders to discuss transforming education in Alabama.

The Transformational Leadership Academy has been established through a partnership between Samford, School Superintendents Association of Alabama, the Schlechty Center, and Education Solutions to collaboratively design professional development and support for Alabama superintendents.

Dr. Jane Cobia (professor and director of Samford's instructional leadership program) has served as director of the Think Tank. The academy convenes for four sessions throughout the year at various locations.

Topics discussed center around understanding and embracing transformational leadership, learning how to attract and recruit talent and build the capacity of leaders to transform schools, enhancing leadership skills, developing shared leadership capacities, and developing teachers as leaders, designers, and guides to instruction.
