$7 thrift find → statement piece.

This little lamp had good bones, but it needed a little vision (and a serious upgrade to the details).

I rewired it with Sundial Wire pulley cord style wire, then finished it with a round plug and a globe bulb with an amber glaze that gives off the softest, loveliest light.
It’s proof that sometimes you don’t need to find the perfect piece. You can see the potential in what’s already there and make it your own.

And honestly? I think this $7 find looks pretty good now. 🖤

Find the wire, plugs + bulbs for your own lamp projects at Sundial Wire.

Who said wires have to be an eyesore?

Sundial turns an everyday essential into part of the aesthetic, with colors and designs made to complement your space instead of cluttering it.

Because even the little details deserve to look good. ✨

Wires don’t have to be ugly. And they definitely shouldn’t be a fire hazard.

The wiring should fit the look without compromising safety. Sundial Wire combines period-accurate styling with modern safety standards, so you can choose the color, braid, and construction that works for your design without settling for outdated or unsafe wiring.

Made in America with US-made copper and carefully selected textile coverings, Sundial Wire gives you the authentic look you want with the safe, reliable wiring you need.

Because even the cord should look like it belongs.

This little workshop has a Hollywood résumé. 🎬👀

Sundial Wire got its start in 1990 when a film crew needed period-correct, cloth-covered wire for Billy Bathgate.

That one movie set turned into decades of Hollywood history, with Sundial Wire making appearances in:

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
Mr. & Mrs. Smith
Seabiscuit
King Kong
War of the Worlds
And on TV:
The Walking Dead
Boardwalk Empire
Fringe
Bones
Heroes

Today, it’s still a mom-and-pop workshop where the wire is hand-braided with the same attention to detail.

From Hollywood sets to your next vintage restoration. 🎥➡️💡

Some things get better with age.

Old electrical wiring isn’t one of them.

While vintage lamps are built to last, their original cords often aren’t. Replacing worn, brittle wiring is one of the most important steps in restoring an antique light fixture.

With cloth-covered wire, vintage-inspired bulbs, sockets, plugs, and authentic finishing details, Sundial Wire helps you keep the timeless look while bringing the electrical components into the present.

You can keep the vintage look while having a modern peace of mind. The charm stays. The hazards go.

The secret to styling thrifted lighting is in the details…
starting with the wiring.

You can thrift the perfect lamp and style it beautifully, but the wiring is what brings the whole piece together.

Sundial Wire’s braided cloth-covered wire replaces modern plastic cords with historically accurate materials that complement vintage pieces instead of distracting from them. The result is a thrifted find that looks thoughtfully restored, beautifully styled, and true to its original era.
