Despite several conflicting meetings and events last Saturday we had a good crowd.

Our Guest speakers were Karrin Taylor Robson who is running for the Governorship and Rodney Glassman who is running for Attorney General.

Both candidates did an excellent job of informing us on their backgrounds, their accomplishments, their service and made compelling arguments for their candidacy's.

A Big Thank You to both Candidates for taking the time to meet with us and to all who came.

Recently, the Arizona Secretary of State took to social media to suggest that certain precinct based counties were treating its voters unequally, implying that by maintaining our long-standing precinct-based system, we are somehow disenfranchising them. That is simply not true.

The reality is that the Secretary of State is exceeding his authority by inserting his policy preferences into the Election Procedures Manual in violation of multiple statutes and using his position to pressure local jurisdictions to follow his unlawful mandate rather than the law itself. Pinal County voters, including those with disabilities, understand their rights. They are informed, engaged, and fully aware of their options: to vote early by mail, to vote in person at any of our five early-voting sites during the 27-day early-voting period, or to cast their ballot at their assigned precinct on Election Day.

I urge you to reject this political posturing. Allow the Pinal County Board of Supervisors to listen to our voters and administer elections locally, as Arizona law intends. Our state’s elections are designed to be a bottom-up system, not dictated from the top down as Sec. Fontes is attempting to do.

We in Pinal County know our voters, with or without disabilities, are educated, informed, and ready to make their voices heard.
