Trustees West Region

Trustees West Region The Trustees, West Region is one of four regions across the Commonwealth – covering the Berkshires, Pioneer Valley, and Central MA, Sheffield to Shirley

Our page is intended to share information and news of what's happening across the West Region of The Trustees, which is one of four regions across the Commonwealth. We cover the Berkshires, Pioneer Valley, and Central MA – from Sheffield to Shirley. Within the region, we care for more than 40 iconic places of natural, historic, and cultural importance – all for the public to enjoy. These include

a Nordic ski center (Notchview), Tully Lake campground in Royalston, and 5 historic houses from the 17th century through the mid-twentieth century, including Naumkeag in Stockbridge, a spectacular example of the Gilded Age, with extensive art collections and iconic landscaped gardens designed by Fletcher Steele; Field Farm with two mid-century modern homes, one of which has been turned into a unique bed & breakfast looking out at Mount Greylock and an outdoor sculpture collection; Ashley House where Elizabeth Freeman lived and successfully sued for her freedom from slavery; and the William Cullen Bryant Homestead in Cummington. Also in the Berkshires is National Natural Landmark--Bartholomew’s Cobble in Sheffield and Monument Mountain in Great Barrington, are two of our spectacular natural landscapes, with woodland trails, mountain top views, meadows and forests, and frontage on a river, stream, or waterfall. These properties collectively welcome thousands of visitors each year.
