Spring Pattern Shift: Rain and Storms Return to Alabama ⛈️

Enjoy the warm, dry air today because a significant shift in the weather pattern is on the horizon. ☀️ After an unusually dry start to April—with Birmingham currently 3.45 inches below normal since March 1—we are finally looking at several waves of rain to help dent that deficit. 📉💧

The Timeline 🗓️

Today (Thursday): Fair, warm, and very dry. Highs in the mid-80s. 🧴🕶️

Friday Night – Saturday Morning: Our first round of storms arrives. A Marginal Risk has been introduced for Northwest Alabama. ⛈️ While the greatest severe threat remains to our west, storms will rumble through overnight, reaching the Speedway after 9 PM. ⛺💤

Talladega Weekend: Good news for race fans! 🏎️🏁 While we have a 70% chance of rain Saturday morning, it should improve for the afternoon races. Sunday’s Jack Links 500 looks mostly sunny and warm with only a 20% chance of a stray storm. 🌤️

Watching Monday (April 27) ⚠️
We have marked Monday as a First Warning Impact Day. The Storm Prediction Center has already highlighted our area for potential severe weather. We know the weight this date carries in Alabama history; our goal is to keep you prepared, not worried. The main threat currently looks to be Monday evening and night, bringing risks of high wind gusts and hail. Tornado threat? Hard to nail that down, but I'll be watching it.💨

Stay tuned to WVTM 13 for the latest timing and intensity updates as we head into the weekend! 📺📱
