Whether you are in a NWS-infested zone or not, the TAHC recommends all owners monitor their companion animals for suspicious wounds and signs of NWS. 🚨 TRAFFIC ALERT 🚨

All lanes are now open.

*UPDATE 10:28am

Southbound Highway 181 will remain closed for an extended period of time due to the ongoing accident investigation.

Northbound Hwy 181 has one lane closed at Shady Oaks Ct.

TXDOT and emergency personnel will be setting up a closure at Highway 181 and Cimarron Drive diverting southbound traffic back to 1604.

This closure is expected to last several hours.

Please avoid the area and drive with caution if you have to travel near the scene.

First Responders are currently working a major accident at US Hwy 181 N and Shady Oaks Ct.

Both northbound and southbound lanes are currently shut down from FM 775 northbound into Bexar County while they work to clear the accident. At this point it is estimated the highway will be shut down for several hours while DPS conducts its crash investigation.

Please use caution and find alternate routes. A news release will be issued as more information develops.

On June 9, the sixth case of NWS was found in a bovine from Edwards County. The infested zone established around the case extends into portions of Sutton and Val Verde Counties. New World Screwworm has officially been identified in Texas. There has been a lot of information thrown out and in an effort to make sure Wilson county is informed with the most up to date CORRECT information, we have planned this meeting in Panna Maria on the 18th with Karnes County.
